I got my brother 770 as a mothers day gift & immediately stitched a ton of stuff. time passed - summer vacay, school starting etc... & I haven't used it in a few months.

but now holidays are upon us & I promised I'd whip up tons of gifts for the inlaws etc..

so I'm wondering - what are your favorite quick & easy gift ideas using your machine?

any ideas? no one in the family is that much into embroidered towels or monogram type stuff unfortunately.

thanks all, m

I have made fleece socks, which people seem to like. Enter the term "fleece socks" in the search box at upper left and hit the "find" button.

You won't need special gripper fabric if you have fabric paints. After laundering the socks (or prewashing the fabric) with white vinegar instead of fabric softener in the rinse cycle, you can paint squiggles onto the sole of one, press the soles together, separate the pair, paint over the designs, and let dry for 24 hours.

Fleece gloves, mittens, hats and scarves, shawls, tote bags, etc....all with a personalized design - cards for the game player, flowers for the gardner, and so on. Have fun!

I'm new to embroidery too and was looking for some quick gifts for a bunch of ladies that I lunch with.
I came across this free pattern Free Zippered Case Design
I made up a prototype this morning and it came out great!
They also have designs for coaster sets that I thought were really terrific and I've made up a bunch of those.

Pillowcases using fabric that matches each person's hobby. I put the person's name on the cuff.
Now that I have learned to use my embroidery software I have been putting a design on the cuff along with the name. Even if they are not into embroidery type designs a lot of people like a design that has something to do with their hobby.

You could make someone a quilt as you go table runner. They go really fast. A non- quilted table runner and some placemats might be pretty fast too.

Some people really like Christmas stockings filled with goodies, or even a home made gift bag with some homemade (or not) treats.

If you know people who travel a lot, they might appreciate shoe bags or cosmetic bags to travel with. I would have appreciated some shoe bags last out of town wedding I went to. I was worried that my high heels would catch on something. Plastic bags did the trick but a nice shoe bag would have been so much nicer! (Have I made one for myself yet - Nope!! )

There is also those baked potato bags. You can put a couple of potatoes in, put them in the microwave and you have potatoes that taste like you baked them in the oven. The only things you need to be careful of is to make sure you use the right batting (the Warm Company makes special batting for this) and the outer sandwich fabric must be 100% cotton as well.

Re-usable grocery bags are a big thing here too and I think they would be easy to make. Ditto a wine tote that is large enough to hold both a bottle of wine and a freezer pack (to keep white wine cold.) Actually these wine bags are a great thing to have at large gatherings. People can keep their wine cold without having to put the bottles in the fridge so no taking up valuable fridge space and NO nasty spills! You could make some for just large bottles of pop too.

These are my ideas... and actually you have given me a reminder that I need to get my butt in gear too!

I made pillowcases like you describe last year for all my grandchildren. They were a big hit.

Are there any children to give the gifts too?
My friend, who has an embroidery machine put a little design and my daughter's name to one of solid tee. I thought it was the cutest thing!

Now I bought an embroidery machine and waiting for it to be delivered...
I bought a whole bunch of cute tees for $2 clearance at Target.com and planning to embroider each receipients name.
