Where could I buy fabric like this? Want something like this with sleeves for mother of groom dress

Date: 12/1/12 9:42 PM Looking for decorated fabric like this top - doesn't have to be exact, just looking for a source for similar yardage. I'm a quilter who hasn't made garments for a very long time so I'm not familiar with sources of fashion fabrics. I'm exploring different styles for a dress for my son's June wedding - I would prefer some covering on my upper arms and thought something like this would be dressy but not overly warm for a summer wedding. Thanks for any help, Deb

For online sources, you will have to hunt a bit. Gorgeous fabrics has a few contenders under the "Oo la la" category here: http://www.gorgeousfabrics.com/shop/index2.php?cPath=203 I didn't see anything at Emma One Sock that caught my eye right away, but her stock is constantly changing so something might always come in that would work. Fashion fabrics club had a few results that looked promising when I searched under "beaded": http://www.fashionfabricsclub.com/search/search.aspx?source=searchbox&keywords=beaded I hope this helps, it may be tricky to find a large-scale beaded pattern like the one in your picture, you may have to hit up some of the PR folks that know the NYC garment district sources and can tell you which brick-and-mortars are a good bet. It sounds like you want a ready made source, but I've lseen a lot books in the library and online with how-to's for decorating. Never tried anything like it myself though, so I can't guess how many centuries it would take to complete. Like the outfit though.

Call around to stores in your area (if any) and ask if they carry embroidered/sequined mesh or lace. These fabrics are quite pricey, which is why I think a brick and mortar store might be a good option. But not the only choice, of course.

(since you don't want WHITE :)) Also the reason I think a brick and mortor store might be better than on line is so that you can see what you are getting before plunking down the cash. I love online shopping, but returning merchandise onlin can be not so fun.. I think you will be able to find something you like with a bit of searching. Good luck and congrats on the happy event!
