Date: 12/4/12 7:21 AM Iam looking for a dress pattern for a dress similar to the one Michelle Obama wore recently on TV. High neckline, short cap sleeves, fitted at the waist with box pleats in the front. I will try to attach a link to a picture.

And the knockoff (I couldn't find the Michael Kors without the sweater to see the neckline)

Simplicity 1873: darted bodice, multiple pleats in skirt like the knockoff.

Vogue 8867: princess seam bodice. The full skirt has two pleats (the line drawing doesn't convey them well as pleats), as with the original. Actually, I'm not sure the original skirt is even pleated per se, more like two released darts.

I made 8667 last year in white piqué for funerals and the front skirt is actually 3 panels, the joining seams of the center panel being hidden in the fold of the pleats.
I would say that it is a bit loose fitting in the bodice and waist. Also, though my piqué was light to mid weight, you might consider a waist stay of you make it in a brocade or jacquard like the inspiration dress.
Good luck!------ Fashion Maté, where I blog about what I (eventually) sew : http://fashionmate.blogspot.com
