I am OBSESSING over this yellow lambskin leather fabric at Denver Fabrics. Since DF is having a 20% off sale, I may just have to buy some for myself for Christmas. I want to make a clothing item so biker jackets, skirts, and even a leather accented dress have been running through my head. If I do a dress I was considering doing this dress with the bodice in leather (the portion in the pic that is showing up in white). Do you think if I order 6 skins that will be enough for one of those items? The leather skins are at least 5 square feet.
If you have any suggestions for any clothing patterns you think might be cute with it, I would be so appreciative.

I love the dress, but not sure how leather-friendly it would be unless you drafted out the gathers at the shoulder. Be sure to check how thick the leather is, from the picture it looked quite sturdy

How about a vest if it's heavy?
Then coordinating patches on jeans or skirt?

I agree w/ Arianamaniacs....that dress called for light weight jersey - not leather!!

I just looked back in my Burda and noticed that too.

You could do an advanced search on this site for items sewn with leather to get an idea of what others have done

I think you need 25 to 30 square feet to make a woman's jacket. Fashion Incubator has a good diagram of how you would want to lay out the pieces since some parts of the hide stretch more than others.
