Kindle Fire HD 8.9? has to have 3G for DH

I've owned Kindles and love them -- all the crap about them deleting books and stuff aside. DH won't really use it for that anyway. He is more interested in an EASY to use interface where he can be on the road and access this certain website if need be. He isn't sure about the 7 inch screen - he'd rather a bit larger. He only carries his crappy company cell, so using a cell phone for browsing is out. Any comments on this? I'm just finding that these tablets are so limited in 3G offerings. So if you have any comments on it, own it whatever, please respond! I wouldn't buy a Kindle Fire. I'd go with an iPad Mini at Sprint instead. I just bought mine last night (comes tomorrow) .. and service starts at $15 a month - with no contracts. I had a Nook Color that we rooted (basically hacked) into an Android tablet.. and I honestly just didn't like it. The iPads are so much nicer. The iPads are easier to use... less headaches... and you can still use the Kindle app for books (I do) ... and I use Barnes & Noble on mine for magazines (it's better than Apple's Newstand, IMO) Moreover, if you get hooked into the whole Apple thing... being able to have contacts, calendar, photos, etc all shared across the Cloud across all Apple devices (phones, macs, ipads) within the family is awesome. ------ nightowlsally.com On my radar someday: Babylock Serger, and some machine for travel. You can use NOOK or Kindle tablet, a Microsoft Surface, an Apple iPad, several smart phones, etc., etc. Even some Tracfones will allow surfing, email etc. My daughter is on her second Tracfone - a Samsung, and it is a smart phone at a really good price - and with Tracfone you have service all the time anywhere in the US without long distance fees, and surfing and email is the same as phone calls - one unit per minute as far as I know - and texting is half that or less. I too have a Tracfone - best phone deal out there. Service even in the remote reaches of upper Minnesota when I need to visit there. and NO PLAN....I love NO PLAN. ------ "Be kind whenever possible. I also use the Kindle app on my iPad since my DS took my kindle. im looking at a Paper White. I went ahead and ordered the Kindle Fire. I figured we can use Amazons great return policy if he doesn't like it. He wanted a larger tablet, with 3G, and we already have AT&T, so we can just add that. They have a deal where you can pay $49 for one year, but only give you 250 mb a month. He wouldn't likely go over that actually, so we might consider it. I love that I can turn off the 3G on my iPad anytime, and start back as I wish. But he said he didn't mind paying the $30 or so a month for it. I use it in bed to check emails, I use it as a computer to do internet searches when I travel, I use it as school. It's so much lighter and easier to carry than a laptop. I can use the screen keyboard like a real keyboard too because I have small hands. Works best if I have very short fingernails. I listen to books on tape mostly on it, though. There's no plan on the tablets at Sprint, either... if you go that route. (Which I did) I'm starting out on the $15 a month plan just to see if I hit a wall on usage. Most of the time, the device will be able to do it's thing on my wireless at home - so hopefully, I won't have to *up* the plan. For me, it's such a value. But I've had cellular internet since 2003 - back in the day when Verizon first offered it and it was $80 a month. It's been worth every penny.. so for me, to now be down to a $45 a month plan at home and still have another $15 a month to do most things on the iPad is a real steal. (and to put that in context... anybody else here ever have a $150 CompuServe bill back in the early 90's?!?!? lol) I'm a junkie for this stuff - and it's helped me soooo much to make money that I can't complain. Then finally my rural area was connected to the urban and I could buy milk again. I'm old enough to remember AOL being all text. Or at least mine was.
