Somebody write *sucker* across my forehead.

Now that I've moved into my palatial estate (compared to the condo I moved out of!)... I got *real* internet installed. Whooo hooooo!

So I called Sprint last night to cancel to of my cellular internet devices that I've been using. I had an Overdrive as well as I had one Android phone that could throw a WiFi Hotspot if I traveled. The first was $60 a month, the other $30. So $90 smacks a month for internet.

The new wired service in the house is $30 for 6 months.. then it hikes up to $45.

I don't travel as much for work as I used to... so I figure that I could dodge this $90 a month (more $$$ for sewing! yay!)

Anyway... when you call to cancel, it sure is amazing how they work to keep you! (and I still have 7 other devices on my bill... so I'm not leaving.. I was just tweaking down a little!) ....

Then while talking to the rep, I found out that the new iPad Mini's are at Sprint now!

So I bought the 64 gig white one... I'm looking forward to trying it out. I have LOVED LOVED LOVED my iPad 2 - but I didn't have cell service on it because Sprint wasn't offering it when I got mine about 18 months ago.

The new iPad Mini's have the same number of pixels as the full size iPads... so all of the current apps work the same on the mini... only.... (duh).... smaller. :)

So good news... I'm saving at least $30 a month on internet.
Bad news... I've got a $500 new toy on my Sprint bill next month. lol

Looking forward to the UPS dude coming tomorrow!

Jealous! I want a mini tablet for travel--it would be so awesome not to have to carry a guidebook around. I was looking at the Nexus 7 but I just can't make up my mind (and have no need to spend the money, LOL). Hope you love it!

Exciting!! i think these are great. I love my new iPad, but it's DHs turn now.

My new ipad is only a few months old so i cant justify another one. DD got an iPhone 5 for Christmas. On special from AT&T with contract renewal, so she's thrilled.
I have a Motorola Android phone, but I I only text and check email occasionally. I have loved having the 3G on the iPad when traveling. What's your favorite apps?

Woo!!! We bought one for our older daughter for Christmas--with a keypad because she wants to use it to take notes in class. She chose the mini sized in white too. We didn't put phone service on it--as she has a cell phone and won't really need it.

There are times I wish I had cell service on my older ipad. I could have gotten it, but didn't want to spend the money at the time, so I jailbroke my phone instead. However, my phone was a super slow hotspot, and when I got the newer iphone a while back I didn't bother to jailbreak it.

Those Mini's are sure cute! Have FUN!!!

I have an iPad mini with cellular (Merry Christmas to me!). I love it! I had no desire to get the regular iPad but the mini is great. I just throw it in my purse and take it everywhere.

And there are some great covers on Amazon for under 20 dollars.

My son bought me the Apple bluetooth keyboard for my iPad for Christmas last year .... which is sooooo unlike him. The idea of him in a computer store is quite a reach. lol... so I still haven't figured out *who* gave him the idea of that for a gift for me. I'll probably die not knowing that secret.

Anyhoo... I did look at keyboard cases online yesterday for the mini.

I'm interested in the Zagg - but they're not available yet.

And I did buy a keyboard case for my iPad - but I really didn't use it much. So not really sure if I should even bother getting one for the mini.

I'm looking forward to it.. can't wait to see it. (I haven't even looked at them in the stores yet... this is as *early adopter* as an *early adopter* as I've ever been.

Ooooo, congrats. I just got an iPad mini which I was enjoying before my Sprint WiFi hotspot went kaput AGAIN. The battery swells. I had device insurance, but they wouldn't replace it without re-upping my contract. So I cancelled. I despise Sprint for sooooo many reasons.

So then I got pneumonia and haven't gotten new Internet, so all I have is my Sprint iPhone with their spotty, slow data service. Poor iPad mini and MacBook Air languishing in a drawer. Blech.

But that mini is perfect. 1/2 the weight of an iPad, but about 80% of the screen size.

Was it a battery in an Overdrive that swelled?

I've had 3 or 4 Overdrives... and only the last one would kill batteries - they swelled and looked like they were gonna blow!

I actually love Sprint... but I've got a business account (not sure if they try to treat us business accounts better?)

I just got two credits from them... one for $50 and another for $75... just for threatening to close down 1 of my 7 lines.

So... I got the Mini yesterday. What a sweet little thing it is! I need to whip up a sleeve for it today so it can survive being in my purse. (I hate scratches on my cool toys!)

I bitterly regret leaving AT&T for Sprint for the iohone5.

In short, Sprint notified me in a 2x2inch box on the BACK of the first page of a 6 page bill (with full page ads) that they were discontinuing the unlimited data plan for my Overdrive hotspot. So they changed me to a very limited plan and the next month my bill was $435! (instead of the usual $90). By default, they changed me to their lowest plan and then charged me out the wazoo for overage. Nice.

When I added the iPhone 5 (oh, how I rue the day), instead of thanking me for giving them more business/$$, they cancelled my employer-based discount plan on my existing service while asking me to provide proof for my new service.

The Sprint stores that *used* to actually provide service (swap out swollen batteries, suspend service for vacations, accept payments and proof for discounts) now only sell, and refer you to the Internet or phone "customer service".

And then there's the irony of "unlimited data" which is in fact very limited, since even 3G service isn't consistently available in CHICAGO. I can't imagine what the service is like in the boonies. Half the time, I get this tiny little circle that means "no Internet" :(. I can't watch anything on YouTube on my phone.

Unfortunately, I bought my phone before I started a long stretch of 12hr night shifts, so I didn't realize how bad the service was until after the cancellation period.

As soon as I get well enough to go out, I'll take that iPad mini to a wifi hotspot and get some home Internet. A pox on Sprint.
