I just finished a jacket, Vogue 8714, for my DDIL. The only alterations I had to make were shortening the sleeve by 1.5".
I am still in shock.
I used size 18 with the D cup pattern piece.

She was doing a happy dance when I took the picture so you can not really see how well it fits. It needs a snap at the bustline to keep it from gaping.

It's funny that this is on "Fitting Woes"; it needs to be on "Fitting Woohoo"!! Congrats to you and your DDIL. The jacket looks fantastic.

I like that: "Fitting Woohoo." That's terrrific. It should be a new category.

It doesn't happen often, but it sure is great when it does! Congratulations!

Ada H: congratulations. It's a great feeling, isn't it?

Elona: " Right-out-of-the-envelope Fitting Woohoo" wouldn't get many posts so will probably not become a separate category. Sad, isn't it?

It would be sad, but I can't actually agree that a thread like that wouldn't get many posts. I remember that "Omigosh" excitement from the first Burda skirt and pants I made, and I would have loved a thread to share this in.

This is cool. I haven't read your review yet but it doesn't even look like the same pattern (yours looks better & maybe bc I can't detect that seam around the waist.) She must be so happy and I know from experience it feels great to watch someone dance around in something we made for them;)

I'd sure read a woohoo category. Although each pattern has individual fit and must fit some people perfectly without alterations, other patterns may actually fit our "real" bodies better so that it fits more people on average. Just as in ready made some things seem to fit everyone or still look good no matter what your weight ( when your weight fluctuates). If enough people were finding success right out of the envelope, I'd sure be eager to try that pattern too!
