3 members like this. Date: 12/13/12 9:50 PM Ive been working and not quilting tons -- but these two projects got some attention.
This one is going to end up a queen size - the center is totally a Bonnie Hunter design -
I started to make it before I got her book - and before she started her mystery quilt -- So now that Im close to being done to these quilts I can start withb the current mystery.
That one is going to get a 3 strip border. It will have 2 solid strips with a stripe strip sandwiched in the middle of them.
Then there is this one ..

I think I love everyhting about it - the design - the fabrics and the quilting -- its not done -- but --

Its a huge quilt. I have quilted more diamonds in the borders and used monofil to SITD around every singer piece of the center diamonds and the border. quiltville free pattern -- Edited on 12/13/12 9:56 PM -- ------ Drag queen quilter! |

Date: 12/14/12 0:22 AM Shane, I was wondering what you were up to!
The second quilt is really coming out nicely - and I love the fmq. The way the white blocks look so beautifully quilted next to those spiffy patterned blocks is just awesome.
Now, the first one. If you know anything about me by now you know I love bright colors and I just absolutely love this one. I looked at Bonnie's but I like yours better. That red is just wonderful, so cheerful, so zingy. The purples, pinks, yellows, just great.
Really, the only thing wrong with it is that I didn't make it. ------ Barb |

When you opened her page did it open with the quilts others have made on the bottom of the page? Sometimes it seems like I can see those and other times I seems like I cant. But some of the others are pretty cool, too.
I loved that the pattern created (I think it was..) 4 hst with every block. That "waste" was a really cool side effect. I started to make flying geese with some of them and have a plan to use them as a border in a quilt. I almost used them in the Star quilt I made -- but I wanted to have a black background and it just would not have worked. But I have all these free pieces that were trash from making those blocks I love that.
Making those blocks was prob the first time that it I noticed when I was off with my seam allowance. Making quilts like that really is different than the other types I have made --
I hope I can get these quilts finished - I guess tomorrow is a new hint for the new mystery quilt.
I also found a new friend who is giving me a scrap bag! I cant wait to see what shes got!

Date: 12/14/12 4:37 PM I love all kinds of color - I love those rustic looking, Edyta Sitar colors - and the repro cheddar and turkey reds -- and the fabrics from primitive gatherings .. I love all that stuff.
I used lots of what I thought were those fabrics in the red quilt -- and somehow it still looks like every fabric is radio active and full of bright sun!
The second quilt -- shhh -- dont tell anyone .. all of the fabrics with color are recycled tee shirts! I know -- tee shirt quilts are only supposed to look one way -- but, I think this looks pretty quilt-y for a tee shirt quilt.
(oh my --- its 430 and its dark out! AHH -- good thing we are closest to the darkest night! Im ready for February!)
I got the strip sets made and cut for the red quilt - they are attached and I only have one more border strip to add before the top of the red on will be done -- I hope I can quilt it tonight. But a friend who moved away is in town and I would likel to at least say hi. So IDK - how much quilting Ill get done.

Date: 12/14/12 4:51 PM Love the first quilt - LOVE THE COLORS!! You work on quilts so very darned fast! I am a complete slug in comparison!
Keep up that good work. Dark - you said it is dark, and you are so right. Another month, but you know TUESDAY next week it starts to sunset one minute later.....gradually until what I think of as civilized - sunset at 5:00 on the 31st of January - now, of course that's here on the very West coast of New England.... ------ "Be kind whenever possible.
