I swooned over this dress at Ann Taylor today.

Check out the third photo at the linked page see in greater detail how the dress is put together. There is a center front piece with a dart, a princess line, and side seam. The back also has an armscye princess piece.

I'd like to make it as a top, not a dress, so I don't need that center back zipper.

There's a whole thread in this forum on knit tops with princess seams. It should be pretty easy to modify any of them for the colorblocking!

Hard to see in the photograph (tho' you can see the bust dart), but the line drawings show the princess seams.
