Warning, odd question ahead
I recently bought Oliver + S Tea Party Sundress, size 2T - 5, to make as gifts. As I don’t have any kids myself (yet), I’m wondering which size I should make for the cutest/most usable effect? Most of my friends are just beginning to have kids, so I can make the smallest size (2T) for the baby to grow into. But I’m wondering if sizes 3-5 be just as popular?

Date: 12/15/12 0:21 AM I'd stick with the size 2 because the parents would have to wait too long to have their child wear it otherwise. And sometimes, parents forget about clothes they have put away while waiting for their child to grow into it. And then unfortunately, it never gets worn. Make the size 2 now and you can always make another in a larger size later. ------

I have a 3yr-old and 1yr-old.
The babies grow so fast until about 2T, and they just kinda grow taller and not wider because they move more, so 2T lasts awhile.
...unless the baby has a potbelly like my daughter and it's too tight at her belly! Haha
3T lasts awhilw too. My almost 4yr-old can still fit his 3T. |

Date: 12/15/12 5:32 AM It is such fun to see for kids. I would use the size 2 and when they turn 3 send a size 4.
I made my neice and nephew PJs about 3-4 years ago and just put extra hem in for mom to let down. They still love and wear them. I wish my neice had been a dress girl because they would have been quick to make and so adorable! ------

Date: 12/22/12 0:13 AM I'm cautious about making clothes so far ahead because you don't know which size they'll wear in which season. Babies grow super fast. She might wear size 2T in winter, but grow out of it by spring, you know? And kids come in different sizes, my grew out of a 2t long before he was actually 2 and some 2 year olds barely fill out the 18month size. Though dresses do go further than boy clothes. ------

Date: 12/22/12 9:57 AM I think children of all sizes are popular, but making one from scratch is a long term task. 
Seriously though, do think about the seasonal comment. If you make something like a sleeveless dress, make sure it is in a fabric that can be worn that way in summer or with a long sleeved top under it if it happens to fit in the winter. ------
