New to PR but not to forums. I very much appreciate the huge effort that goes into developing and maintaining something like this!

I'm not sure what forum software is being used (DH and I run several that use Simple Machines), but I can't figure out how to go to the first unread post in a thread (short of clicking on the last page and scrolling back until I see something I remember reading).

I did look at the past year's worth of topics in this board and didn't see it mentioned, so I apologize if it's been discussed before.

Is there a click spot I'm missing?

Thanks

I don't know the answer but am looking forward to an answer! That's driven me crazy since I've been here but I figure I just have to live with it.

The boards currently do not go to the first unread post. At the top of pages are several boxes to click on, one being Unread Posts, but I think it lists all, not just those you were reading. There is a good chance that I am wrong, so hopefully others will chime in.

I often wished for that feature but have discovered PR is not the best for searching threads for information. It seems more about sharing it. Folks don't mind the same questions from newbies or even old friends. It's social.
So don't hesitate to just post what's been often addressed before. A few of the really helpful threads get pinned which makes finding info a bit easier.
PR threads have their quirks but nothing beats the helpful current responses.
You may want to try turning on the Daily Digest Feature for a while which gives you new posts on all the threads every day
You can also post your question to Deepika- she can forward it to get you an answer.

The date (under Reply/Quote/Pvt Msg) gives you a clue - it is in BOLD if a reply has been posted since you last read the posts.
Does that help - even thogh it is not really what you are looking for?

Not certain how much time this would save a person as all posts stay in bold until midnight for that day.

This also drives me crazy. Last reply should definitely show up first IMHO. Also, pictures! Why no pictures???

Not sure if I'm looking at the same BOLD dates as you are....

But if you are referring to the bold dates that are waaaay to the right when you first open up a list of threads of a section.....

Those are *not* unread... the bold dates are from today.

I opened up a section just to test this out... I went to one that I had never poked my nose into before today... and there were no posts from today, and there were no dates in bold.

On my radar someday: Babylock Serger, and some machine for travel.

My dearest wish is to have Bernina come out with a machine that doesn't give me a reason to *not* buy it.

On my computer the bold dates are just showing what was posted today...nothing more nothing less.
