Date: 12/14/12 11:49 PM There are so many die cutter machines now out on the market.. Just heard of another one this week via an email from my sewing machine dealer of all places.
This new one I think was named the eBosser by Craftwell.. capable of cutting thru 8 layers at a time of fabric. One would have to take that as being quilters cotton I am sure.. and still then I would take that claim with a grain of salt.. Electronic feed thru though.not a hand crank. Will do large dies.. His intro price was l79.. with tax since he is a store front. Recommended retail semms to be 229 ..
This came to me one day after I rec my vagabond. .which is great .. but won't do the larger dies.. sigh.
In any case. obvious more and more of these machines are coming onto the market. I would certainly do a search for all the die cutter machines and compare them all feature for feature if I were going to buy another one of these.
I already had the cricut.. not for fabric btw. and the Big Shot.. hand crank model that one is.. I bought the vagabond as I think its cute.. that simple. just for the cute facotr. The vagabond is also an electronic feed and has a good rep for cutting thru fabrics. Funny that the most complaints I have heard on any of these machines in regards to fabric cutting has been with the accuquilt. the first machine placed on the market geared towards quilters. go figure.. |

Thanks for the tips on the accucut and other ones coming out. Give them a year and they will all be around $100! I hope :-) ------
I have great enthusium for sewing, but lack talent to be great.

One husband took out a hit on my life after his wife took it up, but she cancelled it and used the money for several bolts of Laurel Burch.
Couldn't blame her, I love Laurel Burch.  ------

Date: 12/15/12 3:54 AM I agree there seems to be more 'electronic' ones coming. this one has a memory card with the patterns and you select from a little screen on the top sort of a cross between a label maker paper punch you see for the scrapbooking.
I have too much (its embarrassing really) invested in accuquilt dies I would definitely have to be very convinced before I added another one
I think with accuquilt its the price, you pay alot for the dies and you expect alot I think so the complaint factor would be higher when it doesn't deliver. I used it this morning for some 1/4 square triangles and appreciated it all over again because I have always been a terrible cutter. I can put up with cleaning it and sometimes it not going through fabric all the way sometimes.

Date: 12/15/12 4:24 PM I have the pink Slice Elite and LOVE it! But I mainly use it for cardstock and paper---I love to make cards and I use it for that. I have used it to cut out shapes out of fabric though and it worked great! I cut out a flower to applique onto my denim quilt I am working on right now.
Making Memories, the company that makes the Slice Elite, has a quilting version that is green and is called Fabrique. It is basically the same cutting machine as the Pink and Blue Slice Elite, just green. All the Slice machines read ALL cards, whether they're for paper or fabric.
They have a website, www.whyslice.com, that showed the cards etc but I am having trouble opening it at the moment. |
