The Box Bottom Bag
Four-sided fabric totebag -- how does one construct a box bottom?

Went to the OSQE in KCMO (enough initials yet?) and attended the Nana Bag presentation. Big fun, brought the stuff home, unfinished, waited another six weeks for my Emerald 183 to trudge home from the tech - - - and started to complete my Nana Bag. Problem: the directions say something about matching notches, etc., trimming, (no pictures, plus this instructor already has a record of getting things wrong) and the "box bottom" is supposed to be complete! Huh. Didn't work that way for me. I've looked at several things on YouTube, but they didn't quite apply to my situation. Here's what I've got: Two BIG sides (21x25) and two LITTLE sides (21x 4). So I've sewed them BIG - LITTLE - BIG - LITTLE -- then completed the side "structure" with a final seam. What happens now? I've tried a simple seam right down the bottom, putting side seams together, and that was not successful. I've attempted some other things -- anybody familiar with this? BTW, if you've got the Nana bag instructions, the pieces of vinyl need to be 5 x 19 or 20, not 4 x 16. 4 x 16 will not yield three pockets for 4 x 6 pictures unless you're OK with your tall picture blocking the pic above it.

Sounds like the bottom panel is missing.

If you lay the bag flat with the side panels on the folded sides; sew the bottom edges together.

Then align the center of the side panels with the seam you should have a triangle that when sewn across creates a boxed bottom.
