Hello gals (I'm assuming mostly gals). I recently lost my Elna 8000 due to a bobbin winder failure and the inability of my repair shop to get this part. Even tho I have several other machines, I was left with a hole on my "garage" (sewing machine shelving unit), and a hole in my heart. Tonight I purchased a Viking 500 on ebay. I'm just posting 'cause I'm wound up and hoping I won't regret this! I hesitated to buy an older computerized machine, but I couldn't seem to stop myself. Is there a group for people like me? Or am I the only one?

You are not alone.
You've come to the right place.
Go ahead and share your anxieties here.
I can't share mine just yet as the issue has not been resolved, but when that day finally arrives, I'll be looking for the nearest soap box.
Since October 2014, I've sewn 14 yards! It's nice to see my stash decreasing at this steady pace.
Her needlework both plain and ornamental was excellent, and she might have put a sewing machine to shame. ~James Edward Austen-Leigh, about Jane Austen

I bought an "older" Viking computerized model off of eBay recently and love it. It was my dream machine about nine years ago, but I couldn't afford it then. The eBay price was less than half of what the machine would have cost me nine years ago. I love my "new to me" Viking sewing machine! Congratulations and happy sewing!

Raises hand. I recently bought a Pfaff 2040, and I couldn't be happier. I never would have been able to afford it new.
