I have a Brother combo machine and I ordered a few embroidery designs on iBroidery. I am having trouble with the downloads. Only one copied to my computer and it was a PEN file (which I believe is the wrong format). I ordered Convert it for Macs which hasn't arrived yet, so I'm hoping that will make all the future downloads easier through Mac. In the meantime, does anyone have any infinite wisdom on this issue?

StitchBuddy is an app I use to view PES files on my Mac Mini. I can't offer any advice beyond that because I run Parallels with all my Windows embroidery software (I'm new to Mac). Hang in there. Someone will jump in with some great suggestions!

Are you sure your machine is compatible with Ibroidery files? Only the newer Brother machines will read the files, it's a new format. They do not convert to other formats because they are Disney, Nickelodeon etc. I doubt that Essentials will make a difference. I don't think any program will because the files are copyright protected.

I have an older Brother machine and cannot use Ibroidery files so can't offer any insights as to what else may be wrong.

On our Mac I use Embird through Parallells for all other embroidery files. I just save them on the Mac side and I have it set up so Embird can see get to those files while running Parrallels. Or I just copy over to Windows what I'm working on.

I have heard good things about Essentials though sounds like a good program to have if you don't have any sort of embroidery editing or managing program. It would be a good investment even if it can't help with Ibroidery.

My dealer is the one who told me about iBroidery - you would think she'd know if my Innovis 1250D was compatible with it or not. I will have to call her about it. Thanks Dianals!! I will look into Embird as well.

You can check here, the Brother site.

These liscensed designs do have formats different than the usual .pes format, cannot be converted and are only compatible with certain Brother models, which you can search for at the above link.

Make sure the downloads are unzipped as the embroidery machine cannot open a zipped file. You have to do this with the computer.

I also love using Stitch Buddy on my Mac. Downloading and organizing files is a breeze with it.

Okay, I was able to download the designs while on Windows using bootcamp - and onto the USB stick. Turns out I already did it multiple times - it's been a while since I'd been on Windows - a difficult transition back after mostly using Mac - then had to download their viewing software for free - shows the different colors for each design. I guess I just place the USB in the machine and it will tell me what to do as far as what color to use every step of the way? I don't have time to do this until the weekend before New Years when we return from vacation. My projects will all have to wait!!

I just finished this whole process. I had issues downloading but it is now all resolved after spending hours with brother tech support and AppleCare.. Apparently, it was quite easy after all. My Quattro had to have the newest program update and I downloaded it through my MacBook. Transferred it to the USB or thumbdrive. Turn your sewing machine off. Install the USB hold down the needle threaded button at the same time you turn on the power switch . You will get a totally different screen and the update will start automatically.. This has been a very frustrating process, now that I know I had to pass this info on!

I also was able to read the designs from the thumbdrive to my machine without anymore issues..
