Hi,

Has anyone used the software Style Match by Wild Ginger?

Is it good/accurate?

Thanks!

I have this software... It's a $25 opinion I wouldn't otherwise have. It tells me I'm a rectangle, and I've always been an hourglass, or so I thought.

It has given me some different ideas about what to wear, and what style lines to use to enhance my figure. My shape has changed over the years, and while I'm still curvy, my silhouette probably appears more rectangular than hourglassy now. This was kind of a surprise to me, so it was worth it to get the perspective. I wouldn't consider it a must have, though.

Thanks, quathy! I appreciate your insight.

I see on the website that a color analysis feature is also included in the software. How does that work? Do you upload a photo?

The color chart is simplistic. You choose your color weather according to very brief descriptions, such as "You are most likely a winter if..." suggestions. A small color chart based on your selection of one of the four choices will accompany your selection guide.

The end result is a multi-tabbed guide which includes an Overview, a selection of styles, suggestions for dresses/tops, jackets/coats, pants/skirts, swimwear, necklines/collars, sleeves, and colors.

I'll attempt to post a few screen shots... give me a few minutes, and I'll be back!

the "Style Analysis" is several pages long, and goes into detail of what to go for or avoid based on each aspect of your figure analysis. for example, I should avoid saggy or bag dresses (true!) but should wear loose fitting clothing in general. (Not baggy, but not tight. I agree.)

Oh, and though the software claims I'm an "F" cup, I am not. In RTW, I usually by C or D cup, and anything else is way too big. In patterns, I usually alter to a D or DD measurement. I have PMB and in that my measurement uses a "G" although it only measures to an "E" in the software, but Karen at Wild Ginger helped me tweak the settings to get the muslin right. (They're so good about that at WG. Nice company.)

The software brought me some ideas and styles I wouldn't have otherwise considered, and I was surprised by their color palette. I generally wear browns, light greens, and mild oranges and warm pinks. The software recommended taupe, (along with a range of pinks and greens), and it is probably the best color I've ever worn!

ETA, trying again to add pics...

Hi quathy,

Thanks very much for the details about the software! I appreciate that you even took screenshots.

I find that my silhouette has changed after kids. Some of the clothing styles that used to look good on me no longer do. I have a general idea about what would be flattering now, but sometimes I get surprised about how unflattering an old favorite looks on me.

I think I'll get this software even though I don't have PMB. It sounds like it might give me further ideas about styles that would flatter and help me make better pattern and RTW choices. (DH has been asking me about what I want for Christmas anyway. :))

Again, thanks very much!
