Bernina Virtuosa 160 Value?

It's missing the feet except the no.1 and is also missing the knee lift. It has foot control cord and case. as the story goes a non sewer inherited it as almost new and it has sat in a cupboard for a number of years. The non sewer didn't even know how to get it running. It's in "as new" condition by the looks of it. Knee lift is a must, different pressing feet you can buy on ebay. Number 10, to start with. I dit it slowly too, because this is a little bit expensive. If you knit by hand, the number 12 will do too.

What buttonhole foot do you use? I'm thinking the big $$$ 3A? I'm very excited and am taking it to a free motion textile art group early next year so that will be fun. Date: 12/24/12 9:01 PM I have a lot of the Bernina feet-- some I like better than others: 2: really handy for finishing cut edges. I use it prior to pre washing my fabrics. 3A: I like automatic buttonholes, though 3 can be used with a gathering stitch. 4: you can get 14, but honestly, I don't think the guide is that useful. For zippers, I use 35, but invisible zippers can't be used everywhere. I do use foot 4 for making corsets 5: this is subtly different than foot 10. I use it for blindstitching, naturally. 8: used with size 16 needles to improve penetration power. If you don't use large bore jeans needles, it's not useful, as it can break needles. For best results use the straight sitch needle plate. 10 like 5, but you can use the center needle position. I use it for edge stitching. 13. Sewing curves is a snap with this. Best used with straight stitch needle plate 16. Couldn't get the hang of this. I use the ruffler. and the gathering stitchinstead 18. Seems to make sewing on buttons really easy. I also use it to sew hooks and eyes. 20. If you like satin stitches, this is nice. Also can be used for finishing off invisible zippers. 35 Makes invisible zipper installation really easy 37 useful for quilting. Some people like 57 instead 50 Walking foot. A work of art. And most of my other feet are either self explanatory, expensive, specialized, or all of the above.
