Date: 12/23/12 9:03 PM Two more days for X'mas...
I have this friend that has two boys & 8yr-old girl.
I originally bought movie tickets for their x'mas gifts, but today, two days before x'mas, my DH said "that's what they're gonna get for x'mas?"
(he always does this!)
So I went out to get a toy gift for the boys, and nothing for the girl because I can make some cute tote bag for her real quick.
Then I realized, I was already planning to give her the bag as a favor to my kids bday party for next month.
I don't wanna double up so I need to come up with something quick to make in next two days...
(i don't want to go out shopping anymore!)
Any idea for a 8yr-old girl gift?

Date: 12/23/12 9:12 PM She probably has a Barbie. What about an outfit for Barbie or one of her dolls. Maybe she would like a doll quilt. One year I gave the kids a towel that I had embroidered their name on. Most girls love beads. If you have some on hand, make a necklace or bracelet. ------ Charlene |

Hmm, I like the apron idea.
I have some cupcake print fabric and I can embroider a cupcake & her name on it?
I'll see if I have enough fabric.
I have linen blend fabric. Would it work as an apron?
I found a lined pattern so I can either use the same fabric or quilting cotton as a lining (which I don't really want to, because the print is really not for kids).

The modern equivalent seems to be the crayon bandolier.

I managed to actually make two kids aprons.
I had pink linen blend, and embroidered a cupcake design (UrbanThreads) and added a pocket.
I bought some ready-to-make muffins & pudding to go with it.
I think it turned out really cute! Hope the girls like it. :)
