Cold weather exercise fabrics
I'm looking for sources for fabrics for winter running, snowshoeing and cross country skiing. Stretchy and warm

Does anyone have suggestions for sources for cold weather exercise clothes fabrics? Like maybe factory ends for Columbia or LLBean. I'd love to find what I describe as a low pile power stretch.

The Rain Shed carries a useful selection of stretch fleeces. You will have to call them to order, they don't have an online order system. They have swatch sets of everything. They have been around forever and I have ordered from them and they have good service and nice fabrics.

Dawn, PR member Cabinbaby, has some nike drifit listed at her etsy shop. If she is running in Alaska it might be a great cold weather exercise fabric!

Mill Direct Textiles has fleece. It's hard to figure out what they are talking about but the products and service are good.

Try RCT fabrics/fabricline.com/Rose City textile out of Portland, OR. When I call I can tell them what I am looking for and they send me swatches. NAYY

Thanks for the info! How do you like the UA ColdGear fabric? I'm hoping to make some running tights out of it for Winter. Do you think it would be appropriate for that use?

Perhaps someone would be interested in knowing that I picked up Head Digital Sport Running Glove with SensaTEC at Costco yesterday for ten dollars.

The UA ColdGear fabric is AWESOME for winter running. I made some into leggings last winter and was pretty much washing them twice a week because they were the only bottoms I could wear where my legs weren't red & numb after a long run. I've since got more for two more pairs this winter!!

My ColdGear is the kind with a black, brushed wrong side and a coloured, almost neopreney exterior, just to be clear. It came from a shop in Baltimore that occasionally gets offcuts.

Also, you might be interested in this post I did on exercise fabric sources. I sew nearly all my own running gear these days. :)

Ooo, really good to know! I'm guessing the fabric I'm looking at is similiar, as it's listed as being double faced. Thanks for responding, and I will totally revisit your post of sources in the future.

Here's hoping that the UA coldgear can stand up to a Wisconsin Winter (or at least Fall!). The average low is 10 degrees F in January here, which according to Google is -12 C. Guess that's why you stay moving. ;)

Do you sew the seams of your leggings on the outside to guard against chafing, or do you sew them as normal (on the inside) without issues?
