Did anyone notice a real big drop in the Christmas cards you received this year? I think we counted 8 total. We usually get allot more....though I know some of our older relatives have passed on, divorces have taken place. ......Anyone else notice a real drop in the cards they received this year? ....
Even DH did not bother to get me a card or even write me his usual note......

You think people just do not care anymore or what? .....
Just wondered.....

I am missing cards from a few people this year. I think the tradition of sending Christmas cards s dwindling down because of computers and social media. It's easier to send an email than to post an envelope.

This year I got a card from someone who hadn't sent me one for the last three years, so I guess I'd call that an increase.

I didn't realize husbands and wives ever exchanged Christmas cards. Maybe it's a regional thing?

People don't write many cards anymore, because e-mail is so quick and easy and long distance is so cheap. That's basically it, I think. Not that they don't care. A friend of mine in England (a former pen pal) was virtually the only person who ALWAYS sent me a Christmas card... for 46 years! This year she didn't send one. I didn't actually think about it until just now, reading this thread.

I was a part of the problem. I've always sent out handmade cards. Some years they was simple. Some years they were elaborate. Ex. last year's involved a basset hound in a reindeer outfit in 3D with the 3D glasses enclosed! I've been doing cards for over a decade. This year.. nada, nil, zip. Only 1 person has noticed so I'm guessing my decision was the right one.

Do you miss making them? If so, maybe next year you could just make one for that one person who noticed.

I haven't sent cards for the past 5 years, so I wasn't expecting many. I stopped when I realized I was sending most of them to people I saw often...it was just easier to say merry Christmas in person. I don' t miss sending them, and I don't miss getting them. Too much other stuff going on.

I have typically sent mine after Christmas and included a Christmas photo in them. I can't tell you exactly how many I've received so far compared to previous years, but it doesn't seem like a huge decrease, at least. I'm a bit nerdy, though - I keep a spreadsheet of Christmas cards - who we send to and who we receive from. If I haven't heard from someone in at least two years, I drop them off my Christmas card list, unless I know of extenuating circumstances.

I used to make cards too til someone thought that was a cheap thing to do! That was 2 years ago & I have not made any Christmas cards since. ...... Your last years cards sound wonderful!

Most of our family members live in other states or for a few DH cousins live near Athens Greece ..... I did not send as many but tried to remember those we do not see often.
