Hi,

My QC1000 is lovely but stitches slowly on straight stitch if the length is set over 2.5. I have the speed control on full speed.

Can someone wh owns the QC1000 or QC 2000 just check this out for me and let me know if theirs does this as well? It happens on the normal stitchine and the straight quilting stitches as well. It has me puzzled.

I'm not sure if it's built in to the machine or my particular machine.

thanks
Sue

Is the automatic fabric sensor on for thick fabrics or off. Try both options to see if there is difference in the speed.

I had something similar on my Brother 6000D (which is sort of similar w/out the embroider) it was the foot pedal. I tried two things. I unplugged the foot pedal and checked the cord for kinks, I retracted it fully in the foot pedal a couple of times to check. I also was not in the habit of using the button to raise and lower the presser foot - I normally used the lever. I changed and used the button more often especially on projects where I was doing alot of stop/start and pivoting.

I just got the feeling that something was out of sync computer -wise, I'd be sewing and it would beep at me and go slower but no message on the screen.

That seemed to fix the problem I haven't had it happen again. I have taken to removing the foot pedal and retracting the cord when I am not using the machin alot as my cat has a facination for cords and the cleaner was moving it around the floor when vaccuming.

Thanks PattiAnn,

no luck there. I'm wondering if it's a factory setting and supposed to be so. Hopefully not though.

thanks for the reply. I have unplugged my foot pedal and stitched just using the start/stop button. No luck there either. It's just the same.

My machine mechanic serviced 2 of my machines at the house for me but not this one as it's new. He's a Brother dealer and mechanic. I mentioned that it sewed slower if you set the stitch length over 2.5 so he checked it out for the things he thought it could be. He was non-plussed as well.

He's going to check the shop model and see if that one does it too. I guess I'll just have to wait until after new year when he's back in the shop.
