Date: 12/29/12 4:00 PM Hello.
My mother wants to sew a jacket and chose McCalls 6334. The cheapest way to get it is to download it from SewingPatterns. However, she doesn't read English so I do it for her.
How does it work ? Can I download the file and then send it to her? Would she be able to print several sizes or just one ?
I can print it for her, if need be, but we want to be able to get several sizes if need be.
Thank you !

Date: 12/29/12 4:17 PM When you purchase the pattern it is downloaded and stored on a website called Print.com. You can't download the pattern to your computer. From the Print.com website you print the pattern as many times as you like but only to one registered computer. Be careful which computer you register because the printer must be physically connected to this computer. You can't for example use a networked printer, physically connected to another computer on the network, as I found out.
To be honest I find it to be a bit of a pain and cumbersome compared to downloading from other sources like BurdaStyle, but going through Print.com, no matter who you purchase the pattern from, is the only way to download a pattern from the Big 4. HTH
Edited to add: what you buy is equivalent to buying an envelope pattern so you get all the sizes included in one envelope.

Date: 12/29/12 4:59 PM I would avoid doing this, I had a terrible experience with them (not SewingPatterns.com, but the subsidiary they direct you to to get the pattern).
There were so many problems with my pattern, part of it was cut off, whomever inputted it into the software missed a section at the bottom of one of the pieces. Then, the pages were unevenly sized and didn't match up. Really, really shoddy product.
Just get the regular pattern, you will have dodged a bullet It is nothing like downloading from Burda, which is a dream.
(Other problems are that they want you to install some bad third-party software in order to print the pattern. It does not have an uninstall feature, so if you want to remove it, you need to go into your computer manually and delete files).

Date: 12/29/12 5:00 PM My, it does sounds like a huge hassle.
I think I'll play it safe, buy the paper envelope instead and mail it to her the old way.
Thank you so much !

Date: 1/1/13 6:38 PM I'm surprised, I've bought quite a few but only printed a couple and I had no problems at all. I chose the right size (A4 for Aussie printers) and didn't have to install anything special, although I did already have Adobe reader installed for pdf.
It is a bit of a pain to tape all of the pieces together but I've since decided that using a glue stick would probably be better. Also, it does take a lot of paper but I doubt it would take all that much ink - there are only a few lines on each piece usually.
EDIT: Actually I've printed them all but only stuck a few together -- Edited on 1/2/13 3:24 AM -- ------ Brother BM-2600
