Wanna play?
What sewing related accomplishments are you most proud of in 2012 and what are your goals for 2013?

For me, I am proud that I had the courage to give up on my expensive serger/coverstitch combo machine and purchase 2 separate machines. That was REALLY HARD because I wanted to make it work, but I finally realized that you can't squeeze blood out of a turnip.I got a Juki MO734de and a Brother 2340cv in June. Still working on feeling completely comfortable.......

My goal for 2013 is to sew more regularly and not just for deadlines and to learn to use my feet and accessories, especially binding feet for the 2340.

And You????

I want to get a million projects done for starters. Then I want to build up inventory for craft fairs.

I also have projects for my grandkids that will be great. Organize sewing room and learn about the history of fabric (what prints were made when).

Accomplishments? I made a casserole carrier and an owl bag. They went to two different people. They loved them and that is all the accomplishments I need.

I've made 3 ballgowns and a custom shirt for DH. The last gown was good enough to impress the coach. Yay!

Next year I would like to make at least one more gown because I have the fabric all lined up for it and it will be all for me. Coach has NO say in this one.

I also did some sewing with young moms at work and would like to carry on with that enough to show them how to mend things and make simple projects like bibs for their kids.

Also next year I want to get going on some garment sewing for myself that doesn't necessarily need to be ballgowns. I would like to make undies and t shirts. We will see how that goes.

Poor year for sewing accomplishments here. I am starting my resolutions right now. I'm organizing my sewing room and moving the bulk of my fabric stash from a table in the family room to some shelving in the sewing cave. It is about half done, and then in no particular order: learn to use my serger, sew a garment a month, perfect a blouse pattern and enter my patterns into a database.

I'm looking forward to a good sewing year. I'm planning to bulk up on the sewing production this winter as the spring will be quite hectic here.

Seeing all my pretties out on the shelf is inspiring. Hopefully it won't be too distracting.

My 2012 intention was to make both dresses for two weddings to attend, which I did. I am most proud of the dress I made for my BILs wedding. Not only was it done well (according to my sewing teacher) and suited me so well that at the reception I was called over by the venue people and complimented.
The fabric was very much pacific island, bought in New Zealand. The flowers in the dress were bright pink with purple background. My SIL had the same flowers in purple in her bouquet, her daughters a pink little flower arrangement. A perfect match!
I had chosen this fabric as SIL had mentioned she was thinking of getting purple flowers.

For 2013 finishing off my first coat (already started) in time for spring. Also just generally sewing as much as I can. Maybe a wintercoat?

I'm just pleased with myself that I got the curtains (which were done but for the rod pocket and pinned in place) done before the end of the year.

Also got all the blocks for a sofa quilt done. Just have to arrange and join them, then quilt. But it's at a nice "stopping point".

Have done a bunch of charity pillowcases recently, I feel good about that...a little balance to my sewing.

I'm getting over the pneumonia I got at Thanksgiving. God willing, I hope to go back to work next week. I'm honestly looking forward to it. I'm so fortunate that my work as a nurse is mostly rewarding and enjoyable.

I just started cutting a quilt for my older son, so I guess that's one goal for 2013, finishing the sofa quilt, some new pjs for the boys, some tunics for me, then who knows.

I had a rough year personally so did not sew from June - October. Consequently, lots of unfinished projects. My goals for 2013 are to finish two quilts I have started. Then to sew more clothes for myself and my granddaughters - with a couple tops for my daughter thrown in too!

Pfaff Creative Sensation Pro, Bernina 780,
B350SE,other Berninas, Pfaff Performance 5, several vintage - multiple manufacturers.
Love all my machines!

My sewing goals for 2013 are to complete at least 4 quilts, always have a quilt in progress that I'm working on, and to always have a baby garment that I am working on, and to do a little "light" garment sewing, like pjs, simple tops, etc.. I want to learn to do some heirloom sewing techniques and also work on smocking. This is in preparation for future grandchildren--none are in the foreseeable future but I want to be ready.
I also want to work more on hand embroidery projects.
I found that I did pretty well this past year when I had several projects going at one time, so that when I got bored with one, I could just move on to another. So I'm keeping a running list of current projects to work on. This is absolutely the opposite of how I've operated for the first 40 years of my sewing life. I normally worked on one project at a time.
Happy New Year to all.

You guys are impressive! Isn't it a good feeling when we think of our accomplishments? I have a tendency to notice more the ways I have not measured up to my own expetations rather than give myself credit for any jobs well done, no matter how small or insignificant.

And who doesn't need to be hopeful for the future? I always need to have something to look forward to. Today I am sitting inside looking out at the snow melting and falling from the trees....haven't done that in 25 years so this is a magical way to welcome the New Year!. When I go back home I will make a few long sleeve tops for our finally cooler So. CA weather.
