Hi I've never done this before. I'm wondering if I just overlay my sleeveless pattern on to the pattern which is designed for a sleeve?

What would be the easiest way?
thanks
Sue

That would be my guess. If the sleeveless pattern is one that fits it should turn out fine.

In circumstances that can be right , But very often a sleeveless style has the armhole a bit higher than a style with sleeves. Sometimes there is also added room for the style with sleeves to eg be able to lift your arms.

A sleeveless style can have a different shape armhole, narrower at the shoulders and higher under the arm. I like to draw it on to my muslin while I'm wearing it so I can be sure it will cover my bra straps and give me a flattering shape around the arm. Then I fold under the seam allowance to check and trace it onto the pattern piece once I'm happy with it, adding whatever seam allowance I need to finish it. I have also found that a sleeveless style shows more imperfections than a sleeved one. I'm finishing a sleeveless blouse now and have some small gaping in the back shoulder. For this project, I decided it wasn't important, but for a closely fitted garment it could be a problem.
