Date: 12/30/12 9:39 PM I am so happy it is finally opening. I've been waiting at least 6 months or more. The old building got a leak in the floor and ruined a lot of things (if not everything). I was hoping for a sale but they just took everything out in truck loads.
This one is going to be a big store. I love their coupons and sales. I am so looking forward to it. |

Date: 12/31/12 3:07 AM Ah, a JoAnn's Super Store. They are huge but still don't sell circular knitting needles in shorter than 29"!
On the day they open get there early for lots of specials and free stuff. ------ I have not yet begun to procrastinate |

Date: 12/31/12 7:21 AM Well, wait and see for sewing fabric.
Their 50% coupons are often useless, when they run 20-30% off lots of things you want. They have become more crafts--ours recently remodeled and moved fabric around the edges and put crafts/beads front and center. Seldom find sewing fabric we like here, they concentrate on quilting cottons, very few knits for all those "knits only" patterns at often $20/yd. We use them mainly for sales on patterns, notions, etc. |

Date: 12/31/12 9:36 AM Our new JoAnns is great fabric-wise. The sales are good, too. The problem here (Toledo, Ohio) is that they are WAY short on staff. Customers at Hancock fabrics were saying the wait on Black Friday to get things CUT was at least an hour, sometimes more, so they left to shop at Hancock fabrics. -- Edited on 12/31/12 9:37 AM -- |

Date: 12/31/12 11:13 AM Ours is the same on weekends, go on weekdays if you can.
Altho there are other clerks around, they won't step up to cut if there is a line. They also are taught to stretch the fabric so you sometimes don't get that full yard.
If you have more knits, I wonder why? Ours got in a lot of those awful multi-zizzaggy ones and a few other new ones at $20. The same onlline under $8. I've sewed their Classics, which pilled up and looked well-worn pretty soon. |

2 members like this. Date: 12/31/12 12:29 PM Yes, the fabric can be iffy and the lines can be ridiculous. But, I do love to use coupons on notions and tools. I wait for the patterns to go on sale for $1.99. I got my gingher scissors half off.
You can get nice fabric but you really have to look and be selective. I made fleece PJs 10 years ago and they are still warm and have held up nicely. |

I know that the manager sets the tone because years ago our JA's was awful, the staff were always very very sober and had a hard time even staying there. So what the top does is what the staff does. If they are treated well, the customer is treated well. I just enjoy going there now, and wish the company all the luck. ENJOY your new store. :) ------ "Be kind whenever possible. Like Muffet, our old JA's ambience wasn't great. There were a bunch of ladies who were truly bored with their jobs. You could tell that they didn't want to work there anymore.
But this new JA's is different. They closed the other two stores in the area and opened the superstore. Love it.
Have fun shopping! |

Date: 1/3/13 7:35 PM I like the variety of notions/trims/new ideas/books/yarn that they offer also. I know I haven't named them all. I will be there GlB when the door opens if it is not an icy road day.

1 member likes this. Date: 1/3/13 10:11 PM I had a great experience at my JoAnn's tonight. It is a superstore. On the weekends they are really busy and there is a wait at the cutting table. Tonight there was no wait. I got into a conversation with the lady cutting my fabric that lead to a discussion about sergers and sm too. Very nice. Then I couldn't find a pattern-turns out it was in the new spring catalog. The manager asked me if I needed something. She looked in the drawer for me then offered to look in the back to see if someone missed putting some patterns out. All in all very nice experience! Mine has a decent fabric selection and tonight I used an additional 10% off coupon. This weekend there is an additional 25% off coupon. Sign up to get their emails and down load the app on your smart phones-you often get extra coupons that way! |
