Would anyone be interested in a sewing meetup in the S. Charlotte/Fort Mill/Rock Hill area? Nothing fancy or organized, just bring your machine and a project and chit-chat with others.

I have asked before, but I had a hard time finding a meeting place. However, it looks as though I might be able to reserve a meeting spot at the Indian Land Library, which is on 521 (Johnston Rd, about 10 miles south of 485). There is no cost for this. Although it might be nice to make a small donation.

If that doesn't work out, I have enough space in my house to have a few ladies and their sewing machines over. My house would work out well too as you could bring your kids if you have them, and we could just ship them outside to the playground that's in my back yard. :)

The meetup would probably be on a Saturday morning.

If you would be interested in this, let me know.

I wish you the best. Perhaps you can get an ASG group started.

Going to bump this up since everyone was too shy to respond the first time around. :D

Hi,

I would be interested, I live near 485/providence rd. I am primarily interested in garment sewing. There is an ASG group in Charlotte and I attend the Thursday night monthly meetings, but we have n o place to set up sewing machines. Thanks for posting this. I will be it of town for a bit, but you can contact me at jofalls@aol.com.

I am going to talk to the lady at the library tomorrow and see if we could for sure get the space, and then I will go from there.

Hi again,

The ASG meeting is this Thursday, 3/14 at the knitting store at Sharon Corners shopping center across from South Park Mall, if you would like to come. The official start time is 7 PM. The topic is measuring for a blouse. You can attend one or two meetings without being a member.

I hope things work out with the library, Saturday mornings are not always good for me but I am interested.

Thanks,
Sharyn

The woman who does the room scheduling clearly didn't like the looks of me because she pretty much dismissed me before I had a chance to ask her what I wanted. I was getting a little mad because she pretty much told me 'no' right off the bat, and when I asked her why, because my group isn't a for-profit group, it's open to the public and we wouldn't be supporting someones business, she then told me it's because they wouldn't know what kind of mess we would be making. When I told her I would bring a vacumme, she had to bend a bit. She said she would talk to her boss, and let me know. I already know how that is going to turn out.

I'm in Lake Wylie and I know our library hosts a quilting group. I could ask about availability if there are still interested folks in the area?
