Date: 1/2/13 2:46 PM I just posted my first pattern review, and while the link to the photo on flickr does work, I would like to make the actual photo show up on the review page. Right now there is just the little camera icon. What am I doing wrong??
Also, it is possible to imbed photos in the text of the review? I thought I had seen this in other reviews, but I can't figure out how to make it work.
Thanks! |

Date: 1/3/13 10:17 AM Well I have been also having problems with not being able to add links and photos for quite some time now.
Low and behold I discovered why. I have been using my iTouch (like an iPhone) instead of my computer. Today, I decided to log on and see PR videos on a larger screen- of course I ended up in the Message Board- viola! PR did not delete the buttons- they just don't show up on other devices. So I can only cut and paste URLs when on a non computer device. I can't embed a link (unless I use HTML coding).
I am getting an iPad next week so I don't know yet if an iPad will show the links but will cross my fingers because being on a computer really aggravates my right shoulder.
So, at least for me, to embed photos and links, PR scripting code requires me to be on a regular computer. Then above message are a row of buttons that allow fonts variations, links, replies (I wondered how others had a reply and I never was able to do make that work for me) and images. And to the side are emoticons.
So that may be your problem of why you can't get a photo into your message body. Are you posting from a computer or a device?

I am not sure what you mean but for your review to show up in the Review Gallery and for people to see a bigger photo by clicking on the thumbnail in the reviews list, you need to upload a photo that is on your pc NOT on flickr in the window for the finished garment.

Well, to my knowledge, you cannot have text-photo-text layout like on a blog, for example.
On the forum threads, you can use the buttons above the post window but that isn't possible in a review. You have to link to a photo album like flikr or picasa.------ Fashion Maté, where I blog about what I (eventually) sew : http://fashionmate.blogspot.com

Date: 1/3/13 11:29 AM Try taking a look at this discussion thread. Using Flickr in Reviews
Basically when writing a review, there are a few places where you are asked to insert the URL for photos. You need to link to the photo in your Flickr or Picasa or PR photoalbum- you can't link the review list photo to your blog. -- Edited on 1/3/13 11:31 AM -- ------ Connie Bontje

Date: 1/3/13 12:12 PM Thanks all! I tried the flickr tutorial posted but was unable to get it to work. I think maybe it is for an older version of flickr, or maybe I need to be using a different browser? Either way, I was unable to see the "copy image url" option.
Anyways, it sounds like a sure-fire method is just to upload the photo directly from my computer instead of from flickr. Easy enough to do!

Date: 1/3/13 12:19 PM I have seen some posters that are able to link their blog to the review list photo. I don't like it that way because it takes a while for the blog content to upload before I can view the photo. Most of the time, all I want to see is the pic, not all the extra verbage that goes along with it. I like to have the choice of whether I'm going to somebody's blog or not. ------ Judy |

Date: 1/3/13 12:22 PM It's better to have your photos posted in an online account (Flickr, Picasa, Photobucket, etc.) just in case your computer gets a virus and you lose all your photos. Once links are broken, we have no photos to look at. ------ Judy |

Open your photo in your photostream.
Click on 'Actions' at the top
A drop down menu appears
Click on 'View all sizes'
It will take you out to a photo in the largest size
You can choose the size you want by clicking on the list at the top
Right click on the photo
On a Mac, it says 'Copy image address'
Windows may be something else but should have something similar** see below
Copy this url into the spot in your review for your photo
VOILA!
**Edited to add - I just tried this in windows & there was no copy url when right clicking. I had to click on 'Properties' and then highlight & copy the url manually. This may vary with your version of IE.
What you are aiming for is a URL with a jpg extension at the end.
