Hand sewing the turned binding

I wondered about something as I begin to sew it down. I am trying to decide when I stitch it down, do I sew to the left or to the right? I have tried both ways and it seems to come a little more natural for me to begin the stitching and continue on leftward. I would imagine it does not make much difference in how it is done. I just wondered which direction others sew it down. ------ Quilting is relaxing to me. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors. But you're right, it doesn't make any difference in the finished quilt. ------ Grandma to arguably the cutest 8-year old ever!

Just do whatever is most comfortable for you and allows you to make the nicest stitches. ------ Barb

For me, right to left is natural, but then it might not be for others. I used to do counted cross stitch and did it well. I taught myself to sew it right to left and that wastes a lot of floss, as the backside of the aida cloth was nearly identical to the front. It took months for me to re-learn to do it left to right. Much less floss on the back and it just looked better. So with hand stitching the binding, I thought I'd save myself going through that again and ask if others do it the same way I do. ------ Quilting is relaxing to me.
