I don't have a pattern recommendation, but wanted to see if you are referring to this in case someone else can help:

I couldn't find the dress you are looking for, but I just found this FREE infinity dress pattern!
It looks so cute.. I'm thinking of making one for my SILs graduation in May.

The scarf is nothing more than about 1 1/2 yds of 60 inch rayon knit IMHO. To make it 'infinity' all you do is reverse the ends when sewing the one seam.

Here is a link to make a small 'infinity' scarf, apply it to a larger piece of fabric is all. *Since this tute is for a neck scarf you will *not* be folding your knit fabric in half as shown, leave that step out.
Mobius Infinity Scarf
There are many more tutes for these scarves on the 'net.

Hope this helps, Ani in NC

Actually, looking more closely at the photos, I don't think the end is twisted before sewing the ends together.

If it were, there'd be a twist in the back when it's worn as a cover-up or cowl top. And the edges would curl in opposite directions over the arms.

I think if you measure around your back (under your arms) and then up to the center back of your neck you'll get a close idea of the total length you need. (Depends a little on the stretch of your fabric and how tight you want it to fit when worn more as a garment than as a scarf.

I really like it- thanks for posting. I often need a light weight cover up just to keep chill off under fans in restaurants and such.

Sorry I didn't see this thread before but Ottobre winter 2010 could also be an option (http://www.ottobredesign.com/lehdet_js/2010_5/index.html?nl)

I agree - it looks like a simple tube of soft knit. In fact I'm wondering if it's even hemmed - on a couple of photos, it looks like the open ends of the tube are rolling, much like unhemmed knits will do. In particular, I'm seeing it on the dusty rose worn as a head covering and where it's just over the shoulders

the more I look at it, cut 1 yard of 60" knit, remove the selvage and sew or serge those together, and it's done. You might make the tube a bit narrower if you're short or have very stretchy fabric - I'm 5'10" and a 60" tube would end up being just at my hip. If the fabric ravels when pulled, you'd need to finish the ends of the tube.

edited for spelling and to add - I think in this case infinity refers to the number of ways it can be worn, more like the dress, not the scarf with the twist in it.

In fact, the more I think of it, I wonder if it's just a tube of uncut knit right off the knitting machine.

I think they've got a great deal going there....$38/yard or so for one cut with the scissors!
