Patterns for Bridesmaid Dresses??? Help finding patterns

Does anyone have a good site to find patterns that are more like what you can buy at wedding store? Please help!! Thanks!!

Some years I've seen lots of great options, other years there's not much. You might want to search the pattern reviews here to get some ideas. From the Home page, click on "Review Gallery" under the "Sewing Patterns" box, then filter the search category to "Formalwear". You can at least get an idea of what people are doing with current patterns, and if you find one that's not currently sold in stores, you might be able to get it off eBay or something similar. Date: 1/5/13 1:01 PM from Simplicity for from David's Bridal this to make this: etc. Simplicity has the most designated special occasion patterns, but you can use regular dress patterns too; if a long dress is required, just add length or use a pattern from the same company that has a long skirt. Your fabric will determine the dressiness of the outfit far more than the pattern will. The styling in the pattern books can be hard to see past, but you may find one of them is actually the right shape or just needs some minor changes to match the dress you want, as sewcool and sewshable's examples demonstrate.

Nothing too tighly fitted in the lower part as one of them will be expecting. She likes some with design to the top and simpler bottom. Thanks for your suggestions! Keep them coming!

Keep in mind that anything you find in the strapless category can have straps added easily. Sometimes it is just hard to see past the pattern. It helps to think in terms of the top being an empire, the skirt being flowy, etc. because then you can look at dress patrterns with an eye to what those details are. ------ "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are."
