Date: 1/6/13 9:12 PM Have you tried emailing Threads? They might print your letter in the mailbag section b/c I bet other people want to know too.

Date: 1/9/13 4:45 AM Is it from the 1930's and purple? If so, I don't think that long evening gown was particular ever in a sewing pattern back then. I think they always have an example of an older garment on the back cover of each issue, but they were not always even hand sewn from any old particular pattern back then at all. If they ever were, I actually think they would tell you the old pattern #, if they even knew it at all, even if it was from just decades ago.
If it's that purple one, on back of Dec 2012/Jan2013 issue, they sort of actually give you directions for the top of it in there, and you probably could use parts of current Vouge V2859 to get a skirt portion of it, that all though not really the same, might drape and look like it.
Also for the skirt and even almost all the bodice part of that one, look at out of print Vouge V1134
vouge Anna sui
from Anna Sui, not only does it have the same curve on top of skirt and under bust, but even all the gathers on the bodice and the neckline of that one, is just very close to that Threads back cover dress. Looks like even though Vouge still has on website though, you can't order it, but if you have fabric stores near you that are not all that up on keeping their patterns up to date like some around me, if you search in the drawer for it there, maybe you could still even find that one some places. |
