Date: 1/7/13 10:24 AM I saw this blouse on a website where I often look for inspiration. Blouse on Lafayette 148 It has dolman sleeves, is made from silk charmeuse and lined with polyester. Can anyone recall a pattern for a similar woven blouse? I am also wondering about the lining and how they might have done it with the dolman sleeves. Any thoughts? Would underlining it be a better choice? |

Date: 1/7/13 2:24 PM You could try the free pattern
by Maria from Denmark, available here on PR. It is for knits but once printed out, you could choose the size which gives the correct amount of bust ease. ------ Clare

Date: 1/7/13 3:09 PM Apparently I am all about the Sorbetto today, lol. If you have the fabric with all that drama, I think a kimono sleeve Sorbetto would work.
I started to make one, but never got any farther than drafting the pattern (other priorities cropped up, but I'll get back to it eventually).
First start w/ the Sorbetto (FREE! Easy pattern). You will also need the Sorbetto Sleeve Pattern from Sew Weekly.
Then use them for this tutorial on creating a kimono sleeve Tee!
Of course, if you already have a great woven tee pattern, you can use it with the kimono sleeve tutorial instead.
As for the lining, this blogger did exactly what I mentioned (sorbetto, w/ kimono sleeves) and underlined, since hers was lace. She also used french seams. |

Date: 1/8/13 12:37 PM The top is gorgeous. Looks like it's made from satin silk and is cut on the bias, which would mean adding 1-1.5 inches to the side. The tutorial that was previously mentioned would work great as long as you add enough for the bias and for conversion from a knit to a woven.
Looks like time for a muslin.
Can't wait to see the result.

Date: 1/8/13 1:26 PM Thanks, all, for the great suggestions! I truly appreciate it. This is one of those times when I'm so glad I sew. I love the blouse, but not for $400! |
