I've had a cut of Liberty waiting and I've decided onS1880. It's the same one I'm wearing in my curent avatar, but I'll do the long sleeves this time. I plan to wear it with tights and boots, so there's cling to worry about. Mostly, I line winter dresses with Bemberg but suddenly I'm not sure that feels quite right for Liberty. When I took Susan Khalje's craftsy course, she said she uses crepe de chine for most linings. Would that be a better option? Or is there another one even better?

I like a nice dress, but I'd also like this to be a dress I actually wear, you know? Not too fussy. And the genius of Liberty is that you can wash it and dry it or hang it to dry and it comes out beautifully. I don't mind hand washing the odd garment, though.

Skip the lining and wear a slip if you need one? I've owned many unlined cotton summer dresses in my life....

Well, I'd like to wear it now with thick tights. The colors are really fall and winter. Plus, I get annoyed with slips and avoid them.

Silk crepe de chine can be washed as long as you pre wash it. It is certainly a fitting complement to Liberty of London fabric.

Thanks, Nancy! I'm ordering swatches from Mood. I'm not sure I could find it locally.
