I'll be in Seattle soon. Does anyone know the best store(s) in Seattle area to find great fashion knits?

Thanks!

Thanks. I've been looking online buts its hard to tell what kinds of fabrics, stores carry. Some are obviously quilting stores...some it's hard to say. Nancy's doesn't say anything about having knits on their website.....but it looks like a nice store.

And I am looking for a good selection of knits, cuz my small town has a VERY limited selection of knits.

Nancy's sewing basket is the best fabric store I have been in. I called to check and they said they have quite a few knit fabrics.

Pacific Fabrics is much larger with more selection. They are better quality than Joann Fabrics but also have a lot of decorator fabrics and quilting. We do have several Joann Fabrics all over town.

If you're interested in fleece, cordura and other active wear fabrics Seattle Fabrics is uniquely interesting.

Almost forgot Hancock Fabrics, in the suburbs. They are a little better than Joann Fabrics, but very similar.

Wow! You called for me! Thank you so much. I have hancocks & Joann's here...not so great in the knits. I wondered about Pacific Fabrics and may drop
into Seattle fabrics just cuz what they offer is so different.
I really appreciate your advice.

There are a few locations for Pacific Fabrics. The Northgate store has the Galleria, which is their special occasion fabrics (silks, sequins, satins). I was just in there today and they have more knits than a typical Joann's but not as wide of a selection as Pacific usually has. The Northgate location has a huge quilting section as well.

There is also a location on 4th Ave S, which used to be their outlet. I think they are moving more towards a regular store, but you can still find interesting things there. Last time I was in they had rolls of fabric from Ann Taylor and Cache, lots of home dec, some highly discounted, and pretty big quilting section.

Your best bet for knits would be Nancy's. It's a very high end store, but they have beautiful stuff. The Pacific Fabrics 4th Ave S location would be fun to explore, but don't expect the usual selection of fashion fabric.

Quilting loft in Ballard has a few knits, mostly from the quilting fabric designers. There is not a very big selection (6-10 bolts, at most) but it's not the typical stuff you find in Joann's either.

Have fun shopping!

Definitely go the Nancy's Sewing Basket and to any and all Pacific Fabrics that you can get to. I find they all are different -- Northgate and Everett are my favorites.

Also there is a shop called Stitches that might be interesting. Its on Capital Hill.

Check out www.seattleasg.org if you would like to visit a neighborhood group. Lots of us make garments and we are a large chapter.

Oh I had forgotten about Stitches, that place is great!

Made Sewing Studio on Greenwood sells fabric on consignment. Always a great place to treasure hunt.
