I posted earlier on generic binder attachment and member SewBusy63 said one could order cheaper direct from manufacturer a Bernina binder attachment. Haven't gotten a response back for details. But surely if this is true someone else would have this info. Please pm or reply to this post. Thanks!

I have not heard about buying direct from the manufacturer either? I know ther are generic binders that fit the Bernina. I think I am going ot go that route.
I have a Bernina binder attachment but it has a finished width of 1/4" and I want a 1/2" finished width.

Want to buy a used 1/4" Bernina binder?

eBay has them listed all the time. Type in Bernina binder and you'll see a few industrial-looking ones. Not sure exactly what models they fit, though.

I don't want the generic foot that's why I'm trying to find out who the actual manufacturer is for Bernina foot.

I ordered mine from South End Sewing.

I do not know if the one they sell is 'the real thing' but it sure looks exactly like the one I saw at the Bernina store and has the same weight.

I haven't quite figured out how to make it work perfectly, but the thing is pretty hefty and fits my machine well, folds the fabric nicely, and sews it down on both sides.

My Bernina binders all are made in Switzerland (its stamped in the metal of the binder itself). I am assuming by Bernina. My advice: bite the bullet and get the Bernina binder. I have only had wonderful success with one generic binder, and I was told it cost almost as much as the Bernina binder. It was given to me, as the owner could not make it work. I could, it is a lovely tool. I believe she bought it because at the time Bernina didn't have a wider binder.
I love my Bernina binders. This is how I look at it: I love to make bound placemats (great relaxation), my first placemat cost $280.00, the second $140.00, the third was down to $70.00. By now, my placemats (and any other of the many things I do with my binder) are costing me less than 10 cents apiece from the standpoint of the binder.
It also helps if your dealer has someone who can show you how to use it. I am that someone at our dealer.
