4 members like this. Date: 1/10/13 3:10 PM I love Isacord thread. it always works perfectly on my embroidery machines. Imachines has the best prices that I have found. $3.25 a spool of 1000 meters. If you want to have one of every color they have a kit price that is even less expensive. It is not on their web site so you have to call. Their number is 888-652-4464. CJ Tinlkle/PR is the one who "turned me on" to them. Fabulous customer service.

(I was told that if I wanted to do embroidery I'd just have to suck eggs and get one of each color...I have found that to be correct unfortunately. There is always just that one shade of yellow(pick any color) that I did not have The hobby of embroidery is expensive...ilike going from a row boat to a yacht. ) ------ "The problem is not that there are problems. Date: 1/10/13 5:43 PM Hi Threaddy,
Do you know how much their shipping charges are? I couldn't find it on their site.
I usually order my Isacord from Discount Embroidery Supply. Theirs is $3.95 for the 1100 yard spools, but the shipping is free and fast. Their 5000 yard cones are $9.50.
Actually, I just got a package from them today. I ordered it on the 8th, and they shipped it that same day. I buy my regular sewing machine needles from them, too. It's around $11 for 100, so for 11 cents, I am never reluctant to put in a nice new needle.
I love Isacord, and I don't even do machine embroidery. It is so strong that I use it for almost everything.

Date: 1/11/13 5:22 AM Thanks, Threaddy, for the shipping info. That really is a good price.
Leah Day's recommendation is how I came to try Isacord initially. Then I fell in love with it. Others have told me that it's not strong enough for general sewing, but that hasn't been my experience. It is much harder to break than other thread I've used. And the colors, and shine--lovely!

Date: 1/11/13 9:35 AM I always use Imachine group- if you order about 10 spools the shipping isn't bad at all.
My husband made me a cone stand, so now I get cones of the colors I quilt with most. I also use Isacord for embroidery. |

Date: 1/11/13 12:08 PM I use Isacord for machine embroidery too -- my machine likes it. I've also had good luck with Robison Anton. I also took Leah Day's machine quilting class where she recommends using Isacord for machine quilting. My local quilting instructor recommends and uses Sulky 30 wt. 100% cotton Blendables, which is what I've been using. I'm not sure I would like the look of polyester thread on my cotton quilts. I machine quilted a Christmas wall hanging with Isacord and it looked beautiful, but the fabric was a silk/cotton blend with a sheen. ------ Patricia

Date: 1/11/13 1:13 PM One of the reasons I think Leah recommends Isacord is because of the KIND of quiliting she does- small scale, and lots and lots of traveling over the stitches again. The isacord you can quilt over the same spot many times and it doesn't build up- thread painting with Isacord takes a lot of passes. Most cotton threads, even thin ones, you can tell if you've traveled over a line more than once or twice. -- Edited on 1/11/13 3:28 PM -- |

Date: 1/11/13 1:50 PM Threaddy,
My but you are an enabler. I just ordered 2 kits from imachinegroup.com. You get $17.50 off per kit if you type in FUN in the coupon box (thank you to whoever mentioned that). I wasn't sure how to get free shipping (if you spend $100) so I called the phone number on the site and she said that I should but if the box doesn't take a code (which I can no longer remember) she would honor it. I hope this makes sense, it sounds a bit garbled to me. To make a long story short (too late) I bought 2 thread kits and saved $35. I really like ordering from imachinegroup, I have bought two kits in the past. They keep track of your orders so that you can make sure you don't make duplicate orders, emblibrary.com does the same thing. Goodness knows I'm capable of all sorts of goofs .
thanks again, I think,
