Date: 1/10/13 10:41 PM If I search I only get a few weeks of results - and if I see a forum, it goes back a year if I choose? How can we search for old threads? I searched "thread" in the "search forum" from all the forums, and that went back to the first week of this year only. No options for length of time to cover. ------ "Be kind whenever possible. Date: 1/11/13 0:47 AM If I enter thread over on the left under advanced search and choose boards I get results to 2010. That is not to the beginning of time...what if i wanted something from back in the dark ages? Good question. ------ "The problem is not that there are problems. Date: 1/11/13 4:30 PM I find PR's search engine cumbersome to use and hard to refine. (i mean no insult to our wonderful site founder.)
Instead, I use Google Advanced Search.
Put your search terms in the boxes -- it allows a lot of refinements, including date ranges.
Lower down, there is a box labeled site or domain:
In this box, put http://sewing.patternreview.com
I pull up all kinds of old threads this way.

Date: 1/11/13 5:22 PM Thanks....gosh...this is quite a complex procedure...as my DD says: to much. We need a really fast really functional search of the forums here. I used to get loads of results and I am sure the option of going back a longer way....but we'll see how the new site is. ------ "Be kind whenever possible. It is always possible."

Date: 1/11/13 9:49 PM Thank you! The search engine on this site leaves a lot to be desired. Even if I type in the exact title of a topic it won't pull it up!!!! grrrr! This site could be a sewing encyclopedia if it worked right. There is so much information but you can't get to it....kind of like my brain. ------ "The problem is not that there are problems.
