Many thanks for starting the 2013 thread, tgm!

I can very much relate to your organizing sewing space goal, tgm, but will try to focus more on sewing than on cleaning/organizing this month and sew 15 min every day. Or do sth sewing-related - like organizing the sewing area.

Further goals for January:

- participate in OPML contest and sew at least 2 jackets if I manage to get the fit right; currently, I'm struggling with my muslin.
May need to consider aanother pattern, a skirt perhaps? We'll see.

- continue to perfect a t-shirt TNT --> I'm not there yet but made some progress so there's hope!

- finish at least 1 UFO --> I'm close to finishing a simple tee that must be 2-3 yrs old by now (fit in shoulder/armsyce/sleeve area was awful). Neckline and hem of the sleeves need to be completed yet.

- sew a skirt from TNT burda 8280, view A --> not even started as of yet.

- continue to catalogue my patterns (i.e. from magazines like burda or La Mia Boutique) --> scanned a couple of overviews from Burda. Baby steps, baby steps ...

I'm looking forward to read about your goals and progress!

My January goals:
1. sewing 30 minutes a day
2. complete or deal with (either ditch or donate) a UFO
3. sew 1 item from stash
4. finish DD's skirt and start a new one--make muslin from stash
5. continue dismantling ties for tie quilt

Today I spent 45 minutes working in my sewing room and filled a 24x24 box with scraps that I intended to make AMG doll clothes with but it was just taking up space and feeling like a burden and what is the term for 'I will not live long enough to sew all that fabric'?

Well it's a new year and I'm going to try to get back on the band wagon again for 2013 -- the last 3 months of 2012 were a total loss for any personal sewing at all. I set out some goals for 2013 early this month.

So my goals for January are:

1. Make infinity scarves for birthday gifts (already done)
2. Enter OPML contest on PR
3. Finish V8295 skirt -- which has been a UFO for almost a year
4. Start on lighthouse wall hanging kit

I'm trying to fit in a minimum of 15 minutes a day (average per week) -- some days I don't get that 15 minutes but then I make sure to get at least 30 minutes the next day.

Will be keeping an eye on everyone's progress.

"sewing very slowly to fill an empty closet"
Stash Tally: net +38.5 yds (2014)
2015 Stash Tally: 106.5 yds out/122.875 yds in (net +16.375 yds)

2016 Stash Busting:
43.0 yds sewn/donated (as of 09/21/16)
53.25 yds purchased (as of 09/21/16)

I am bound and determined to make several long sleeve tops to wear while the weather is cold. I am on WW finally and will be losing weight and that's always my excuse not to make something, "Oh, I won't be able to wear it very long if I lose weight." So my lovely fabric sits there and I have nothing to wear. So I am making as many simple tees that I can and either altering them when my weight goes down or giving them away. I made 2 McCalls 6241 before Christmas. Easy peasy! I am hemming Butterick 5388 tonight and cutting out Vogue 8597. We are having a cold snap here in So. CA and this girl has nothing to wear. Thanks for starting this thread. I have to commit or I just piddle my time away.
ETA: I have to do the things I hate most.....
1. Clean off the 4 inches of paper stuff from the top of my desk....file them away not just organize into new piles.
2. Get back to keeping my sewing journal. I love having it but don't love remembering to do it.

Hi all,
I am joining this Sew Along for 2013 and already set my January goals, some of which I've even completed!

For January:
1. Make Pamela'S Perfect T shirt. This one is done. I am pretty happy with this pattern, and will be making it again with a few changes. I used an ITY knit for the first time. It was very drapey and a little challenging to sew, but is a nice fabric to wear. Plus, it won't wrinkle, no matter what I do to it.

2. Rub off my fave pink fleece jacket. This one is also done. I used the masking tape method, and the pattern appears to have turned out pretty well. This was the first time I tried this method. I found it time consuming and a bit tedious, but it is looking like it produced an accurate pattern, which is what matters most. The hardest piece was the sleeve. Plus, I couldn't get the collar right, so I pulled out a piece from another pattern to compare and was able to figure out how to fix it. I'll soon be finding out if I got it right.

3. Make a blue fleece jacket with the newly made pattern. I am working on this now. The back is constructed, and I have one of the side pocket zippers in. Next step is to do the other pocket zipper. This is ordinary fleece fabric.

4. Make an off white fleece jacket if the blue one is OK. I have some really warm Polartec fleece for this. Making this jacket was the whole reason to do the rub off and blue fleece test garment. I couldn't find a pattern that I like as well as my favorite pink fleece jacket, so thought I'd jump in to trying to copy it.

5. Put my black suit jacket back together. I took off the sleeves to shorten the shoulder length, and now have to reconstruct the sleeve heads and put the pads in and hand sew the lining. I started this project months ago and it's time to stop procrastinating and Get It Done.

6. Write notes in my Sewing Journal about what I sew to help me remember what changes I have made or need to make the next time I use a pattern. This is going to be a goal every month, since I can't remember a thing any more. LOL

This is an ambitious set of goals for me, but I am going to make sure I do at least something on them every day. (I hope!)

I am looking forward to seeing everyone's goals and accomplishments, and to the fun of sharing our sewing experiences.

Thanks for starting this! My main 2013 goal is to try to work through my fabric stash. I don't have as much as some but I think it could easily get out of hand.

January Goals:
1) I got a Baby Lock Enlighten for Christmas and I'm taking the Craftsy serger class so I want to finish the class this month. The class has really pushed me to get familiar with the machine--I love it! I had a Brother 3034D prior but the Enlighten is a dream!

2) I also signed up for a skirt sewing class at a local dealer for fun.

3) Coverstitch NL 6150 top that is finished--except for the hem! And wear before the heat returns.

Looking forward to the New Sewing Year!

Thanks for starting the topic for the new year - I enjoyed keeping up with others' progress last year, even when I fell off the wagon!

For January, I will (note that positive verb!)
1) Complete the second block of my Out of Darkness quilt
2) Quilt the rest of a Lone Star quilt
3) Start a table runner kit
4) Make a plaid fleece vest, pattern yet to be determined. I have the fabric in stash, as well as a separating zipper and several vest patterns. That is good 'cause one of my goals for the year is to stay OUT of the fabric store and use up my studio stash -- patterns, fabric, notions all included!

Yards in stash: I don't want to know, but I estimate 300.
2016 goals:
3.5 hours per week doing sewing related things
4 yards of stash fabric used for every yard purchased.

2016 Purchased: 29
2016 Used: 19
