Date: 1/11/13 10:19 PM I am an intermmediate sewer and I would love to make this dress. I know it prob will be cheaper to buy (since it is on sale) but I "must" make it longer (at least to the knee). I searched patterns but cannot find one to compare. DOES ANYONE HAVE A PATTERN# TO COMPARE OR INSTRUCTIONS FOR NO PATTERN????? Thx in advance for your help. ------ Love God, live life, laugh often. |

I don't have a specific pattern to suggest at this time, but I would suggest that you concentrate on finding a knit top pattern first. I feel certain we can track down a dolman sleeve, V-neck top that would come close. After that, we can find a skirt pattern to attach to the top. ------ “Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and it annoys the pig.” -Robert Heinlein and Ann's father. Date: 1/11/13 10:42 PM thnx Karla. That is exactly what I needed. I didn't know what type of top to call it. I"m sure I wont need a pattern for the skirt, I can freehand/cut that. But I want to attached the top to the skirtwith elastic so it can stretch. Where can I find instructions on attaching them with elastic. (i already know how to put elastic in a skirt but this is different bcs i am connecting the two). ------ Love God, live life, laugh often. |

Date: 1/11/13 10:58 PM Dresses like this are often made with a standard seam at the waist, with elastic zigzagged to the inside of the finished seam - supereasy. The top will drape over the seam and hide it. ------ “Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and it annoys the pig.” -Robert Heinlein and Ann's father. Thanks for the reminder, Ann.

Date: 1/12/13 0:45 AM Burda 7678 does not have the gathered neckline you're looking for, but it does have the dolman/batwing sleeve gathered to a band, which you can lengthen for the skirt. If you use the seam allowance between the bodice/skirt as a casing, you can pull the joining seam to the waist for blousing as in the inspiration. You can slash and spread the front to get the gathering volume.

Date: 1/12/13 10:48 AM V neck, gathers, but the sleeves are generous raglans. Still, it might give you the look you're after. New Look ------ “Never try to teach a pig to sing; it wastes your time and it annoys the pig.” -Robert Heinlein and Ann's father. Thanks for the reminder, Ann.
