Date: 1/13/13 2:57 PM I have a faux mink material that will be the outside of the bathrobe. I would like to line it with another faux fur (swirl), and I would like the lining to be where it is in contact with skin. Do I cut both furs the same, sew them as individual pieces then put them together? Or, do I need to pin and cut the swirl faux fur on the 'back' of the pattern and sew it to the mink fur as individual pieces, then put it all together? |

Date: 1/13/13 6:28 PM I am no expert but in my experience you cut and sew separately. But your question may be a bit more involved than you think, it all depends on your pattern and if it has facings and or self facings. It's just like lining a jacket, you basically sew two separate garments and then sew them together. |

Date: 1/13/13 8:17 PM I made a robe a while back out of cotton quilting fabric and lined it with a fleece type of fabric. (I gave up the robe when I slipped on ice outside my door; the robe didn't have enough flexibility to "save" me.) You can do either method. What I did was cut them both at the same time and then stitch them together into the one seamline, to help keep the lining in place. ------ "We don't impose our rhythm on Nature. Date: 1/14/13 11:53 AM This is the direction I was headed in last night, after much pinning, looking, pullin pins and stating over again.
Thank-you and have a great day! |
