Those are pretty outrageous, all right.

I actually have this grandly-priced Sonia Rykiel someplace in my stash, but I doubt it's worth a couple of hundred bucks.

At that price it looks like they could throw in free shipping.

The true measure is what price the pattern actually sells for!

Ye, that is getting pretty silly. For that price, even if you could not do it yourself, I think you are at the point you could just pay someone else to do it for you. Lets say it took them all day and just even using some patterns they already had as the base. If you really paid them $200 or $250 a day, probably not too hard to even find a bunch of people that would do that for you at all! I actually don't even think some movie studio or theater group would ever pay that for a sewing pattern either, as they could just do that themselves too.

I think your only chance of selling it like that would have to be maybe some unfortunate person that was actually making that same dress for a important event or a wedding or such, and it was coming up just very, very soon, and they were down on the line, and had maybe already only partially cut out part of the item, then some disaster happened in that they lost all their pattern pieces? In that case, maybe they would panic and do that? Or possibly someone related to the designer whom maybe did not have one, and wanted it for more sentimental reasons, or maybe someone writing a book about that designer or doing a display in some museum some place and sewing patterns possibly. Those kind of things are probably very few and far between.

But wishful thinking can be a very strong thing, I would guess sometimes.

I don't know...they are real treasures and there might be a collector out there who'll be interested.

Besides being overpriced, the one I looked at closely was cut and taped.

I think this is pretty outrageous. I really think I could take a simple shift dress, cut it apart in blocks, allowing for seam allowances, and make it.

Look again. The pattern doesn't have pieces for the blocks. It's just a plain shift dress with trim tacked on!
