I've been on the search for a basic toddler dress pattern using knit fabric for forever. I've used the Signature Dress Pattern with ok results, but the back & front pieces of the dress are the same & the sleeves are symmetrical, which, in my opinion, does not give very professional results.

Basically I'm looking for a good "block" I guess. With sleeves. And I'd prefer that it not require ribbing. Any suggestions??

I'd be curious to see the replies on this topic because I am also on the lookout for something similar.

I highly recommend this Ottobre Pattern

I've made it a few times and its very easy to lengthen it to a dress, which I plan to do also.

I made Kwik Sew 3861 recently.

I reviewed it here.

I got to see Ro wearing it over the holidays and it was adorable on her.

I didn't use clear elastic when sewing the front bottom to the bodice top.

I also noticed that the neckline comes down a bit - it's not a high, jewel neckline. The next time I sew it for Ro, I'm going to omit the back placket business and just bind the entire neckline. I don't think think she'll have trouble getting it on.

I hope you review it!

I'd love to get a picture of Rowan wearing it because this top is so flattering! Another has been requested lengthened to make a dress.

Deepika - you'll have the luxury of being able to compare the neckline to other tops your daughter wears and decide if you want to do the placket or not. I noticed its facing kept flipping out when Ro modeled her top for me.

Check out the printable freebie Racerback T Dress Pattern from Crafter Hours. 3 easy pieces.
Cute summer knit that goes together quickly.

Luckypennymake has a cute "rock collecting" skirt.
Oliver and S has the free Popover Sundress with a matching one for her doll.

Note: On the Racer dress I don't like the bumps created at shoulders and armpits by the instructions for ribbing, so I sew all seams first, then add the ribbing, seaming at the ends, with the neck ribbing seamed at the back center. If you don't like/have the right ribbing you could finish this with bias too.

Have you seen the Kwik Sew Sewing for Toddlers book? Great old book with classic patterns.

There are several blogs that show tutorials for adding a skirt, woven or knit, to a T-shirt. So you could use a T pattern you like and do it that way.
Kwik Sew had a knit dress pattern I used when DD was little. It worked great. I don't think I have it anymore.

In the small sizes, I felt the sleeves ran very narrow. Make sure you measure them against something else in her wardrobe. Otherwise, it's very cute and easy to put together!
