As the topic asks? Are capes still in? I know I should make what I like and where I live now is a bit behind anyways so maybe I'm on point with a cape.

But nonetheless, what are your thoughts on whether capes are on the way out?

I never saw anyone wear them where Im at. I think they're one of those things that if you love it, go for it! I bet you will get lots of compliments too. When people wear stand out clothing, you always get admiring looks. I adore capes personally. Good luck with yours!

Thanks! I know I should make what I like too. I just wondered where they stood. I haven't seen any here but then again I live in Montana now. You either have the western look, which is cute actually or there seems to be a standard middle aged woman uniform which includes jeans with the bedazzled butt and Dansko clogs together. It's scary!

I also love capes. I rarely see anyone else in them but always get compliments when I wear mine, also palazzo pants, another one of my faves. I say,"Life is so short, wear what you love!"

My dress winter coat has been a cape for over 30 years! I still LOVE it. It really hasn't see much use and still looks fine. I always get compliments when I wear it.

What's in is whatever you can pull off with finesse and no embarrassment.

The embarrassment bit was added with regard to body parts and not wearing a cape, which could be spectacular.

Go for it! If anyone asks, it was custom made!

I have worn capes for 40 years--as far as i am concerned they are never out of style. Receive compliments every time.

I don't think capes truly caught on enough in the mainstream to either have been in, or now out. Unlike the poncho craze of several years back, where they looked very out after the trend was done. So you can wear them as one of those chic classic items.
