Date: 1/16/13 4:42 PM I just finished basting a 52"x 76" quilt, it took me 2 and a half days to do it this way and now my hand and arm are quite sore. Since this is my first time using this method I wanted to check and make sure I'm doing it the right way and that the time it took me is normal.

Date: 1/16/13 4:58 PM Yes the video is where I learned how to do this method. I might go back to safety pins. I seriously need some ben-gay and a massage, my arm and hand hurt so much. |

Date: 1/16/13 6:17 PM I've used her method and it didn't involve any pain. It could be something about your posture or the height of the table you are using, or any number of factors. Are you reaching too far? I used a chair on wheels so that I could scoot along from side to side as I stitched, so I wasn't reaching uncomfortably. |

Date: 1/16/13 6:55 PM After I saw this video and pinned and stitched my first quilt, I thought I'm done quilting...
then someone here was talking about spray basting
 So I now keep quilting! I would have QUIT if I had to do all that -- BUT for what it's worth, I know you are going to get a better looking quilt, now have it all set up for the next one, and you maybe "Show" ready :-)
Good job, and hand the ben gay to someone to help you rub in. Can't wait to see the finish ------

I pin basted an 86.5 x 86.5 quilt on the dining room table in a little over 2 hours. I FINALLY finally tried basting in sections, and it works very well for me. ------

Date: 1/16/13 7:12 PM You know I did have to stretch my arm quite a bit because my table is round so that might be it. I've been wanting to buy some crafting tables for awhile maybe that would help.............. |

Date: 1/16/13 7:20 PM I tried the board method and pin basted. I sat on bar stool height chair at my kitchen island to complete the basting. It worked well. I think it is a good method for someone who cannot stand for periods of time.
I bought the boards at Home Depot and store them under my bed. ------

Date: 1/18/13 1:57 AM I do this but instead of the boards I got some clamps from the harware store for $2 each, clamp my backing to the table theb batting and top, baste the section and shift. The advantage is I don't need to get a board that's the same size as my quilt top this was |
