This Christmas I made a litterary Christmas Calendar for my online friends. It consists of 24 posts that I shared day by day. After a couple of weeks I turned it into a blog Mrs A and Mrs Nemesis
to make the sharing easier.

I now want to turn the Christmas Calendar into something more and I think it could evolve into a humor blog.

In the meantime, I am trying to find my way through the jungle of information about blogging. I am heavily spammed, and I understand I can use a widget called "Akismet" to get rid of most of the spam.

Many of the users of this forum are highly skilled in blogging:) If you have any beginners tips or any stories from your blogging childhood, I am happy to hear what you have to tell.

I have found blogger easy to use. I don't understand your question about being spammed and how it relates to the blog. If you are concerned about spammy comments you can check the option that you must review the comments before they are published.

It isn't hard to set up a blog. I like the discipline of writing several times a week . It's good for me and keeps me honest about the amount of work I'm doing. I usually get about 150 readers a day with occasional blips upwards ( or downward if i haven't posted in a while)

Hi Sarah

My blog is a Wordpress blog. I get daily spam comments but I think it might be due to a setting that I have changed back to its default setting. The spam comments are sometimes presented as a reader that is highly interested in the blog but without being specific. And then there is some link to some webpage and I looked at one - and it was for adults.

Anyway, I guess every blog should have a "subscribe" button and so on. If you have any comments on this, I am listening! 150 readers pr day is nice, btw!

If you look way down in the Forum list you will see the topic "Website Talk" where some info and suggestions are discussed.

Hi Marie,

I think Akismet works so you should definitely activate it. In wordpress look at the gray lefthand navigation column & click 'Plugins.' Is Akismet listed there? I think it was already there in my install. (I recently started using wordpress not for myself, but to make someone else's site.) If it's not there, you can hit 'add new' and do a search on 'akismet' and then install it. It's free for personal use (there's a fee if it's a business). Then click 'Activate.' You need to sign up for a key--the directions are there in the description.
