Crepe backed satin - lining?

And underline or just normal lining? I'm going to use french seams. (Oh I'm hand sewing it as well) ------ 'The purpose of most fashion is to be ostentatiously non-functional.'

I'd think the crepe side would be a little rough for direct skin contact. I've used crepe-backed sating as a lining, and love it.

French seams are generally done on lighter weights. I'd line it since it will wear and hang better. If you want to go the extra mile underlining would be lovely. If it's drapey then underline in silk crepe de chine and line it in that as well. ------ www.nancyksews.blogspot.com

I would go with a Bemberg or silk crepe de chine lining. I do lots of french seams in my sewing because of the heirloom work I do. They are best on fine fabrics like batistes, voiles, sheers, and lightweight silks. Just my two pennies. ------ http://lasewist.blogspot.com/

I'm finding the fabric frays like mad so I've no choice but to finish the seams properly. Ended up hand overcasting. And I've sewn it with shiny side inside to make it easier to get the dress on and off. ------ 'The purpose of most fashion is to be ostentatiously non-functional.'
