I need help with lining a knitted dog sweater.. Please help me if you know what I can do..

I drafted two patterns today for my boyfriend's dog. One is a sweatshirt and the other is the sweater lining for her sweater. The biggest difficulty was figuring out how on earth to do an armsye for a dog! My biggest decision is how to sew the lining to the acrylic sweater I made- any suggestions from friends who knit or sew??? I found the techknitter blog and she suggests hand sewing the lining.. I am also wondering which would be a better choice- a knit or a woven fabric on the bias for the lining. The reason why I am lining the sweater is that Miss P (the doggie) sheds quite a bit. I used Vanna's choice acryllic yarn and want to make i cord button loops too. aarrggh!!! I wanted to finish the stinking sweater today and it's not happening. :(

I don't think a woven cut on the bias would "give" enough in all directions. And I'd say, hand sew it in. j.
