Fabric for First Communion Dress Need suggestions.

Subject: First Communion dress Date: 1/28/13 0:26 AM May I have fabric suggestions for a First Communion dress? I am thinking dotted Swiss, but have found fabric so inexpensive I know it's not quality, and on the other hand $30+ a yard is too much. So I am thinking what other fabric could I use, maybe $15 to $20 a yard? Think I read a previous post that a washable dress worked out well for someone. I guess not too fragile. I would rather work with a quality cotton than a cheap polyester that might never hang right. -- Edited on 1/28/13 0:29 AM -- ------ Klunky

I ended up with Swiss organdy lined in lawn with some embroidery trim, all of which I purchased from Farmhouse fabrics. They also have an Italian organdy that is a little softer and less expensive, but narrower. I went with Swiss because it will allow me to cut the skirt in one piece so I don't have any seams ruining the sheer lines. This is what the little girl choose, however, I think a fine handkerchief linen would also be a good choice. Martha Pullens linen is expensive. Maybe try grayline linen in New York. Just be sure to order swatches. Alternatively, the silk cotton radience made by Robert kaufmann might work too.
