Baby Lock Tempo

Date: 1/28/13 1:42 PM I've just about talked myself into the Baby Lock Tempo(Crafter's Choice 2). I have a Baby Lock dealer very close by. I bought a Natalie about 5 years ago and took it back 2 weeks later. I later found a Kenmore 18221. As much as I love my mechanicals, I'm ready to take the electronic/computer leap. I went in today looking at the Elizabeth. I had seen good reviews on Elizabeth. The employees know me and know my sewing needs. The sale lady today suggested I look at the Tempo. I like what it has to offer. It's on sale for $599. A bit more than I had planned to go. I like the idea of having the support of the dealer in my back yard. Jumping from mechanical(for over 35 years) to push buttons and LED screens is a bit overwhelming. They are always willing to help...So any feedback on my Tempo decision? I'm warming up the checkbook and planning to buy it before the end of the week

You can use the bobbin work kit on it, too. The Viking Interchangeable Dual Feed foot will fit, also. At this point I personally am considering the Elizabeth or a Juki F600 only because they have a knee lever and thread cutter button. Both BabyLock models have every stitch you would really need, plus some fun extras. I've never really used the deco stitches. I suggest this cos you haven't had a computerized machine and I think when you get a taste of it you are going to want more features and more stitches. I loved to look at them, and they had the style I liked best. I ended up with a different machine, but I do remember how much at one time I was looking forward to owning either the Temp or the Melody. Great, great decision. I know you will love this machine. I expect to read very soon how much you like it and that you are amazed at what it can do for you. I would not be surprised to also read you are glad you went from mechanical to electronic at last. ------ Quilting is relaxing to me. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors. Before I got ready to leave the store, the sales lady told me she could have sold me a more expensive machine(Elizabeth is $799)but she knows how and what I sew. She said the higher priced machines have more stitch selection and the obvious bells and whistles, but I don't need all that to make a purse, pair of jeans/slacks or a blouse. I don't quilt. I was bowled over by the needle threading feature on Tempo. I have a needle threading feature on my Kenmore, but it's more of a hit and miss PIA, than a time saving feature :blush: Just never thought I would ever spend this much on a sewing machine.

You are so fortunate that your BL sales person knows you. There are just some of us that dont need features or stitches- they are bells and whistles that will never be used. It can be overwhelming to move up from a mechanical and having such good dealer support will make it a much better experience. ------ re-living my youth through sewing...

I see them a lot in classes. Are the Brother versions are less expensive in your area? That is, if you have a Brother dealer you like. ------ 🌸 Plenty of machines, mostly Berninas 🌸
