Juki MO-735 worth buying? 2 sep. machines or 1 that does both?

Date: 1/28/13 5:08 PM I have a 3-4 thread serger, Kenmore and I am now loving the use of a coverstitch machine in my sewing class. I am tempted to sell my serger and get the JUKI 735 that does both. So, here is my dilema: should I sell my serger and get the JUKI 735 OR keep the serger and buy a coverstitch machine??!! $ is no problem... If you have the JUKI 735, is it really complicated to re-thread from serging to coverstitching? I greatly appreciate all your opinions! Date: 1/28/13 5:27 PM I don't have a coverstitch machine but everybody has told me unless you only want to coverstitch once in a while, you are better to go with 2 separate machines. Date: 1/28/13 6:27 PM I just recently sold my TOL Bernina 1300MDC (made by Juki) which was a serger/coverstitch combo. It was a very good serger, but was a pain to switch to coverstitch mode. I'm now the happy owner of a Babylock serger and separate coverstitch machine. I have converted it to a coverstitch once and I think it took about 7-10 minutes with having to read the manuals. Next time won't take so long. I don't coverstitch that often so I don't really mind it. If money and space really aren't an issue, though, I would definitely get separate machines so there's no time wasted switching functions. If you are sewing a lot of knits it is so worth it to have a separate machine. I have the 434 elna, equivalent to the Janome 1000cp. I use it all the time. The extra machine doesn't take up a huge amount of room and it is so nice to just move to the other machine and hem and then back to the serger for other construction. You will need to consider more thread though. I had a dual machine, and I found it difficult to swtich between serging to cover hemming. But it was an older machine 14 plus years. There is a section on cover hem machines that is worth reading.) Date: 1/29/13 9:10 AM I have the Juki MO 735 and use it frequently , to serge and cover stitch. I don't have room for a separate machine or would have both. Once I did the first conversion for the cover stitch, I didn't have a problem converting it again.
